What is the enhancement in mind? How should it look and feel?
Well I don't actually know if this is possible in Minecraft but I was thinking maybe something like the chat feature in DayZ could be added, which would mean you could hear players that are close to you.

Please provide any additional information below.

This is indeed quite possible, I may add it in a future update, although there are already several chat plugins that have this functionality.
