This plugin can allow those with permission to create gates. These gates will transport/teleport anyone who enters that gate to the designated location. This is a very easy to use, easy to maintain transportation plugin! As a bonus, the gates can look any way you like!
To get started, try the ingame command:
/gate
Commands
/gate help,h,? [page] - Display a help page
/gate create,new [id] - Create a gate
/gate delete,del,remove [id] - Delete a gate
/gate setfrom [id] - Set “from” to your location.
/gate setto [id] - Set “to” to your location.
/gate open [id] - Open that gate after creation.
/gate close [id] - Close that gate at any time.
/gate list,ls - Display a list of the gates

Permissions?
Only one:
ancientgates.admin - this will allow anyone with that permission full access to create, delete, open or close gates.
Who can create a gate?
Those with the permission node or operators.
How do I create a gate?
Using the command
/gate create [id] will create a gate with the name of "[id]". You then stand wherever you choose to make the gate (making a frame out of seemingly anything (besides, say, lava or water) and do a
/gate setfrom [id]. This will set the "from" position (where players must walk into) where you stand. You then go to where you want to have players teleport to, and type:
/gate setto [id] and it set that position to where you stand. Once this is all set up, you now open the gate with
/gate open [id]. This should open the portal and allow users to enter them at any time.
Who can destroy a gate?
Anyone if you do not use a third-party protection plugin like Towny, Factions, Worldguard, etc.
Is there economy/Vault integration? Features for user to dial other gates etc?
Not at this time.
To Do List:
- Fork Vault in, allowing costs per gate creation, teleport, etc.
- Create basic gate destruction protection, removing the need for Worldguard/Factions/Towny/etc.

There is an issue, if people make normal portals to the nether they just TP to the nearest goto point.
Please take a look at it.
Just noticed that you intend to add dialing capabilities? If you add any additional complexity, I intend to fork back and maintain it in its current state..
Not that it matters with bukkit being dead...

i have a group called 'admin'.
2 users in that group. 'snowy007' and 'testuser'
snowy007 is OP and testuser isn't.
The admin group has the permission 'ancientgates.admin true'
'snowy007' is able to use all the gate commands but 'testuser' is not. It keepts telling he needs to be operator or have the permission node... problem is.. i don't want him to be operator and he already has the node.

I have to be a OP and have permissions to use the gate commands.
Is it possible to create some permission nodes so users can create/delete their own gates but not other peoples.

I had a portal room all nicely set up since my last plugin broke!!!
Each portal has a two point and a portal which will return (HELPFUL TIP TO NEWBIES, IF YOU ARE USING RETURN PORTALS, PLACE THE SETTO POINT ABOUT 2 BLOCKS INFRONT OF THE RECIEVING PORTAL OR IT WILL LOOP YOU!!)
Please keep this plugin updated as it is a fantastic and much more exciting alternative to warping!!!
Just as a dev note - Try implementing signs to the frame of the portal, which indicates whether or not the portal is active or disabled.
Eg. Portal Open = Sign Says 'Active'
You get the idea. GREAT PLUGIN!!!

Hi this plugin is great. But there is still a issue with OP's not being allowed to use /gate. Our server may get permissions but right now OP's cant use /gate. Is there anyway i can edit who can use /gate in the jar?

im keep getting the "error" You lack the permissions to do that, but im OP and admin (1.1 R4) permissions: - stargate.world.* - stargate.* - ancientgates.admin - '*'

You say that water or lava can't be used to make the gate frame. I actually did though with haltactivity. Would it still be possible?

It does, but it doesn't have the means to load multiple worlds. For instance, multiverse loads the multiple worlds onto the server, and Ancient Gates can then set up gates between them, however you must first have that means to load multiple worlds in the first place (if that makes sense).
I might take on that project soon if I get the time.

Is this multiworld-compatible? Multiverse is not working with R6, so I was looking around for other multiworld teleporters.

@CrazyHamster_42 Making portals out of thin air is not possible, you still need a frame. How wide the frame is, what it is made out of, or how tall it is is still pretty much open, however.

Can you PLEASE allow the open and close commands to be run via console, I've been after this since I found ancient gates 1.0.2 (Inactive at the time) Make it configurable if you must but this is murder to me, I can't use Redstone signs or manage my portals without logging in

Isn't it kind of rude to suggest another authors plugin in the comments for this one? Especially when the one you are suggesting has not been supported in months according to your own statement. I would much rather use this as it appears to be active and supported.
you should just pick up creative gates as it hasn't seen an update in forever and is a billion times more user-friendly

Just curious, but MassiveCraft has features which are not available in the main plugin, is there any way I could get these?
EDIT: Ok, let's just cut to two features that I currently want, I would like the option to set an effect to occur on teleport, and an option to set gate material on the go.

Oh, one thing I always wished:
Make the gate creation process less... Hmm, how to put it, typing whole lot of stuff is annoying. How about instead half a dozen commands, use two commands?
/gate createEND ID (Create a gate with the ID, create an ENDPOINT where you stand)
/gate createSTART ID (Create a STARTPOINT (Thats currently... setFrom?) with the gate and whatnot at your location that automatically connects to the ENDPOINT (Thats currently... SetTo?) you just created a moment ago, and opens.)
Where ID would be the name of the entire gate. To refer to the end and start, ID.end, ID.start. You could give those names for end and start automatically.
So instead of creating gates, setting to, setting from and then opening, you'd just use two commands.
I once created a gate maze. Well, that was my inital purpose, but havign to type in a bunch of useless commands while making gates really took the fun out of it.
It would be immensily less confusing too. I mean, every single admin that creates gates on our server is asking each other stuff like "Oh, how do we do that again?" -Idk. "Damn, hey, do you know?" 'Me? No. Go google it' <Googling, find the instructions page> Read the instructions... Ehhh?!?! Wth? SetTo? SetFrom? Ehh? Ugh, I guess I'll just throw in a bunch of commands and see what happens.
SetFrom and SetTo are kinda hard to understand, it seems. Like, are you setting a gate where you stand from the ID specified? Or are you setting a "from" point?
Same with "SetTo".
Never understood why there were so many commands involved in connecting point a to point b =/
