It has been remarked on that the current category system is mildly non-specific for Minecraft Mods. So we gave you new specific categories that should help better organize your mods and help end users find what they are looking for.
When editing categories, make sure you change both Primary and Secondary categories. Use Project Management and click on Edit Project. Then go down and use the dropdown menu to select your Primary Category then pick up to 4 Secondary Categories.
The old categories have been moved to Legacy and will be disappearing when the new system is put in place. Currently if you are using a Legacy Category other than Forge or Other users will not be able to sort with that category.
Feel free to comment if you feel a category is missing.
"Mini-game" would be good.
@Kaelten
Its a growing category, right now I would say there aren't many, but server admins will be searching for them.
@SirWilli
I'd have to ask again about that I mean it seems that almost all mods would fit into Client, and that Server mod might be too thin?
@Jadedcat: is there a decent amount of Server management tools mods etc?
@JadenWong
For MC Versions you tie individual files back to game versions. So don't need a category. On Curse.com you're able to filter on mine craft version. And we have some great enhancements planned for that.
There is a World Gen category, but we just renamed it to that to make it more obvious.
As far as books/manuals is that really a big enough selection of mods to justify a category?
What about a client/server mod category? So you can see if the mod is only a client mod or if the server needs the mod too.
@kenny2810
Added.
@JadenWong
The tags are one of things we need the new system before they can be implemented. The things you listed are all things that would require some form of tag or checkbox not categories.
Hi, here my categorie requests:
btw, categories are useful, but what about add a tags/labels system to the site to categorize mods by its content? (Like: Weapons, Tools, Ores, Dusts, Ingame Manual, GUI, Powersystem, Fluids, Machines, Mobs etc.)
A category for mods that add weapons and tools to the game.
