NerfFortune was created to limit the Fortune enchantment, so users are not getting a ridiculous amount of materials from simply having a Fortune pickaxe.

Merely drag-and-drop the plugin into your plugins directory, and you're ready to go!

Skeptical about the results? I quickly tested the plugin. I mined 4 diamond ores, and counted the number of diamonds I got from each one:

Without NerfFortune:

LevelTrial 1Trial 2Trial 3Trial 4
Fortune I5756
Fortune II7676
Fortune III915129

With NerfFortune:

LevelTrial 1Trial 2Trial 3Trial 4
Fortune I5445
Fortune II5656
Fortune III6879

The plugin was created by sharp237 - I merely compiled it and threw together this BukkitDev page. Round of applause for him!

Just thought I'd say that while I love this plugin for nerfing fortune slightly, It introduces a potentially critical "race condition." And I recommend that server admins find a different way of nerfing fortune than this plugin.

Basically I was trying to debug a really obsure bug Some of my players were rarely happening, and decompiled this plugin to see if it could possibly be this plugin.

Long story short, how this plugin works is actually when a player breaks a block with a fortune pick, the plugin actually removes the enchant / replaces it with a weaker enchant while you break the block, and then replaces it using a delayed task once you've finished breaking the block.

However, it introduces a race condition, in that sometimes if a player mines a bunch of ores in a row, and switches items in their hand, there is a possibility that the high-level fortune enchant will actually cease to exist on that pick. (this is because of how the replacing the normal fortune back onto the pick is done potentially in a separate thread, and unreliably.

There is even a possibility of players duping the fortune enchant onto new picks, or moving the fortune enchant onto a seperate pick that had none. The chances of a player being able to do this on purpose is very low, but it is definitely a possibility.

A config can probably be easily added so you could set the percentage of the nerf. :)

    Good idea!

But i think that the difference between Fortune I and Fortune III is too little... You can reduce the level I, little ;)
