Compatibility and Troubleshooting

This plugin uses Java 7

If you get the followed error on starting up the server with this plugin installed "Unsupported major.minor version 51.0". This means you are using an out of date version of Java. If you don't know how to upgrade, please contact your server hosting provider and ask them for help in upgrading to Java 7, or contact Oracle customer support. Mac OS X users require JDK 7 instead of JRE 7.

I used /reload and now I cannot unlock my account

Like many other plugins, Security is not /reload safe. Instead you should use /stop and then restart the server, or use one of the many available auto-restarter plugins or server scripts. See https://forums.bukkit.org/threads/petition-to-remove-the-reload-command.43212/ for more information.

After restarting I cannot log into my account

This bug has been fixed in version 0.2. I recommend upgrading immediately, and reset all passwords.

When I use /ResetPassword it tells me this player is not a member of my server

This is a bug in version 0.2 and will be fixed in version 0.3. To manually reset a player's password, you can remove the "salt" and "hash" lines in the player's account file under plugin/Security/accounts, or delete the account file. Note that deleting the file will also remove their account preferences.

Incompatible plugins

This plugin is Bukkit API-compliant. This means it is safe to use with all other Bukkit API-compliant plugins. Compatibility issues only arise if another plugin is not following the rules or is attempting to provide some of the same features as another. It also means that it should work in later releases of CraftBukkit without needing to be updated, unless Bukkit itself undergoes major changes (This has very rarely happened, and the Bukkit dev team will tell you that a particular update breaks plugins if that is the case).

Known compatibility issues:

  • Essentials MOTD (and other MOTD plugins) currently might not display to joining players as it may be sent while the password prompt is active
