Introduction

KoolSource Forum Bridge is a next generation, forum bridging plugin that is lightweight, easy to use, and extremely customizable.

The fault of many of the past forum bridge plugins is that they require you to have full remote access to a MySQL database. This is not allowed on many webhosts and is a major security risk even if it is allowed. Someone could easily hack into that remote connection and take down your entire website (I would know.. it's happened to me. :()

With KoolSource Forum Bridge you no longer have to allow remote connections to your MySQL database. You can even close the port all together, eliminating the risk of a MySQL security breach.

This list may seem short compared to the thousands of website softwares out there but KoolSource Forum Bridge works with literally 100% of the Forums, CMSs and ANY custom website. The only thing you need to have is a user management system that has groups. I will be posting a tutorial on how to make your own Web Modules that will enable you to make KoolSource Forum Bridge work with your own custom software.

How it works

KoolSource Forum Bridge works without access to a remote MySQL connection because it uses a small web-based script to do all of the MySQL database connections for it. This way you can leave your MySQL connection securely on your webserver - Exactly where it belongs.

These Web Module as I like to call them enable the end user to easily change the method of user-data retrieval and customize the locations of certain data to your liking.

Commands

/resync [player] -- resync your groups or another player's without having to logout.
/freload -- Reloads configuration file

Permissions

ksfb.* -- Gives access to all KSFB commands
ksfb.reload -- Gives access to reload configuration
ksfb.resync.* -- Gives access to resync themselves and others
ksfb.resync.self -- Gives access to resync themselves
ksfb.resync.others -- Gives access to resync others
ksfb.exempt.groups -- Makes them exempt from group changes on server join and /resync

I've tested this plugin fairly thoroughly but I'm sure there are a few bugs that are still needing to be squashed. Q. It says "(Free)" in the title, is there a paid version?
A. No, at this time there is only the free version, however in the future there will probably be a paid version that contains many more features. Let me know what you'd like to see.

Q. The software I use is not in the list above. Can you add it?
A. 95% of the time the answer to this question is yes. Let me know what software you would like to be added to the list by using the "Ticket" tab at the top.
