What is GoldRush?

GoldRush is a mini-game based on an idea presented to me by a Minecrafter by the name James2024. Put simply, there are 2 teams (red and blue), who have to fight each other within an arena, while trying to get as many gold ingots as possible. Gold ingots fall from the sky (they will travel through glass, and will not land on top of trees) [The time between drops is customisable, and gold dropped is proportional to players in the arena], and when a player dies, they will only drop half of their gold ingots. The length of the game, and the time between gold drops is completely customisable in the configuration for the plugin.
GoldRush does not require players to bring their own items, as it is completely class based, with classes defined within a seperate file in the plugin folder (please see setup information for details on how to correctly add classes to this file). Players can choose their class either through commands, or right-clicking GoldRush signs. I've also been very careful to make sure that players don't get any freebies from playing GoldRush - their inventories and cleared appropriately, any items in the arena are removed, etc.
Currently, GoldRush only supports 1 arena, but I may change that in the future.

Planned Features / Fixes
- Have a 'votable' "1 life option" that means players only get 1 life for that round (might do this, might not)
- Have a permission node per class for "donator classes" etc
- "/gr forcejoin" which will clear a player's inventory for them
When ever I try to make a class, it works until I try to add the potions to their inventory. Does this plugin not support players using potions, or is that a bug?
Someone on my server made a lobby that i didnt think should have been the lobby, and he set the spawn area for the lobby there. i tried setting the spawn for the lobby to where i wanted it, but when i tested it, i still appeared in the old one. how do i switch lobby areas?
also, i searched for this plugin cause it was the name of a game at a camp that i went to one year, Camp Heron, and may I say it is a REALLY COOL remake of the game. I give it two thumbs up.

Thanks for answering the previous question but I had another question much like Vatechoclat's. I thought your game was so well done that it could be in competition if more feature were added as a new game. What this means is that if you can add more arenas and add more things to it we could monetize. Turn this into a survival games like venture. If me and you privatize Goldrush I already own a server we can make a whole network with donations and other things to make money off of. I would recommend taking a look at the survival games plugin and maybe copying that arena idea. Together we can make something I would like to discuss through private tho. My email is [email protected] We already have a server with your plugin and have come up with a temporary solution to the Donator classes problem with the use of command signs.

You need to start the game (or vote for it to start) - Until the game actually starts players cannot combat each other.

I'll look into this, although they work fine for me...? Make sure your signs have "[Gold Rush]" on the top line (with a space!)

I don't plan to add support for multiple arenas, sorry. I don't have the time to implement such a large feature.

1) Resolved, need the space 2) I'll add a "/gr forcejoin" that will automatically clear their inventory for the next version. 3) Classes cannot be disabled unfortunately, and I have no plans to change that, sorry.
For some reason, when we join the Gold Rush arena we are unable to PVP (We are in all other mini games, so it must be the plugin)
Any solution?

Hi i wanna set up donator classes for you amazing game gold rush. Can you make it so i can separate the ability to choose classes through permissions. So only donor group can use class Paladin and so on. Other than that you game is Absoloutly perfect thank you
There are a few things that seem to be broken with this plugin (using 0.3.0b for bukkit 1.5.1 dev)
1) the class signs don't work.. Right-clicking on them does nothing. When you create them, the colours don't change and there's no indication that GR has even noticed you've created the [GoldRush] sign. (Maybe add a sub-command for /gr setsign ?)
EDIT: Turns out these signs do work, but instead of using [GoldRush] you need to put [Gold Rush] (with a space between)
2) instead of clearing and restoring players' inventories, GR just gives an error saying that the players' inventories need to be empty to play. This creates huge problems with people A) needing to store their stuff in a chest before joining the game, and B) having their stuff stolen from those chests while they play! Just about every arena-based mini-game plugin will automatically clear the players' inventories when they join, and restore them when the game ends.
EDIT: I've found a work-around for this. Using another plugin called AutoRunCommands you can configure a stone button to run the command /clearinventory (this assumes you have Essentials installed as well)
3) there doesn't seem to be any way to start a game without first choosing a class. I can't find any config option to disable the class requirement (for example, I prefer to have [kit] signs inside the arena)
Will any of these be fixed/implemented soon?
I really like this however are you going to keep updating it as time goes by? I've relied on public plugin developers and they would eventually just quit the project.

Ahhh, I see your problem - You can't use semi-colons outside of the list, and you can't set an item's durability to be negative. Everything should also be defined in lowercase. Your classes.yml should look like this:

Your classes.yml file is null, or is empty. Download the ZIP version and put the folder "GoldRush" from that into your plugins directory (delete any old folders named GoldRush).

Added support for minimum/maximum players and joining into the arena directly with commands, and automatic game starting when the maximum number of players is reached.
You told me to write this here: Features to add:
Instead of having the players to write /gr vote, you should make it simple and just let the players who want to play GoldRush write /gr join or something like that. When doing so, they will be added to a queue with the amount of players defined in the config.yml, let's say 10 players total and 5 on each team. The players should also get a message telling them to pick a class.
When 10 players have joined, the game would automatically start and the teams would be randomized (because that is the simpliest way to get a game going fast) and the players would be teleported to the base of the team.
When a game is ongoing, other players could still queue up for a round after that game, so when the first game is finished the other players will get teleported in, and so on.
