Metrics and update checker ㋡
Smiley includes two features that use your server internet connection. First one is Metrics, used to collect information about plugin (versions of plugin, of Java.. etc.) and second is update checker (required to find newer version of Smiley at dev.bukkit.org). If you don't like this features you can easily disable it. To disable update checker you need to set the parameter "version-check" to "false" in config.yml. Obtain more information about Metrics and learn how to switch off it, you can read here.
@Darunia18
doesn't work yet. trying to fix it, i will let a friend look into it. Here is my startup script:
@ECHO OFF IF /I "%PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE:-2%"=="64" "%ProgramFiles%\Java\jre7\bin\java.exe" -Xms24000M -Xmx24000M -Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 -jar "%dp0craftbukkit.jar" IF /I "%PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE:-2%"=="86" java -Xms1400M -Xmx1400M -Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 -jar "%dp0craftbukkit.jar"
PAUSE
thx for the help
[edit]
i fixed it, my startup batchfile was in ANSI coding. Changed it into UTF-8, now it seems to work untill now... :)
[edit]
now my citizens plugin doesnt load anymore... no time to figure out, have to wait when server is a little less busy
@Sandertjeuh To quote fromgate "You need to enable UTF-8 support. Add flag -Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 -jar to your server start script (batch-file). Example (of my test server): "%ProgramFiles%\Java\jre7\bin\java.exe" -Xms1024M -Xmx1024M -Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 -jar craftbukkit.jar
If you don't need UTF8 at your server you can try manually edit the smiley.yml file and change all smileys to \uxxxx presentation of the codes. I'm planning to recoding feature in future versions." I had your problem before but I just added the -Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 line to the startup command and it works like a charm! Just remember to put it before the craftbukkit.jar and -jar commands. I hope this helped :D
@fromgate @Matthew_Cowley Thank you for your help :)
Runned on my server just fine for about 2 hours, when i restart the server everything becomes a questionmark... please fix this. system supports utf-8
@Darunia18
UTF-8 support is default requirement for Smiley. If you can't use UTF-8 at your system, you need to edit smiley.yml file and define digital representation of UTF-8 symbol. For example: you can use \u2707 and get symbol ✇.
Codes of UTF-8 characters you can find here: http://www.utf8-chartable.de/unicode-utf8-table.pl?start=9728 And I think it's great site to found new smileys :)
P.S. Minecraft built-in true type font is not supporting all UTF8 characters. You must try to use character at chat before add it to smiley.yml file.
@Darunia18
Currently.. you can't make the smileys display like this "☻" they will only display as the UTF-8 code "☻".
But Fromgate is working on a way to make them display like his "☻" in the config files.
Hope this helped, and sorry for and inconvenience.
I have a problem with adding more emoticons. I am not sure if this is only with my server or with the plugin, but I cannot copy/paste any emoticon into the smiley.yml file to use. If i try to add emoticons that way, it just shows up as '????'. I am not sure if there is something that I am doing wrong or if it is with the plugin itself, and if there is a solution to this. For example, in the simley.yml file, the :-): '&6☻' emoticon instead looks like ':smile:': '&6☻'. If there is a way to change emoticons to look like the code or if there is something I am supposed to do with any of my server settings at all, could you please let me know? Thank you for your time! By the way, other than this issue, your plugin is amazing! :D
