PotionArrows
When a splash potion is placed in the inventory quickbar slot immediately to the right of a bow, an arrow striking a living entity (player, creeper, etc.) will consume the potion and transfer its effects, as well as the arrow's normal damage, to the entity.
Version 0.2 adds more permission nodes to allow for better plugin configuration. The old configuration file from previous versions is no longer used and can be deleted. There are three nodes that control how splash potion stacking works:
potionarrows.allow
Only splash potions to the immediate right of a bow will be consumed. If the slot contains a stack of splash potions the entire stack will be consumed in one shot.
potionarrows.queue
This node lets players place a stack of splash potions to the immediate right of the bow and use them one at a time. Additional potions or potion stacks of the exact same effect can be placed anywhere to the left of the bow and will be consumed one at a time from left to right.
potionarrows.queue.anytype
This allows additional splash potions/stacks of any type that are queued to the left of the bow to be used one at a time from left to right.
You only need to add one of these three permissions to a group because they automatically include the previous permission. There is one other node that is entirely separate:
potionarrows.nonsplash
This enables non-splash potions to be used and queued according to which of the previous three permissions were set. Non-splash potion effects are always applied to the Player and not the entity hit with the arrow! If this permission is not set to true, non-splash potions will be ignored.
Please be aware that all permissions default to true for OPs. If you do not want non-splash potion effects applied to OP Players, set potionarrows.nonsplash: false
Potions with no effect (water bottles, mundane potions, etc.) are always ignored.
Please note that certain mobs are affected differently by splash potions:
- Spiders and Cave Spiders are Unaffected by Poison.
- Skeletons, Zombies and Zombie Pigmen are Unaffected by Poison and Regeneration, Healed by Instant Harm and Damaged by Instant Health.
Check out a video review of the plugin by OfficialK4G
@OfficialK4G
Thanks for the video. It's great!
Hey MrMalm Me and my group OfficialK4G have made a review on your awesome plugin, we hope you like it! ;) we would be really grateful if you would feature our video on the main page as we are trying to grow our new channel!, only if you like it of course and thanks for making this we love it! ;D here is the link to our video
Does not work with custom potions.. It will fire the potion but it applies the default effect of the custom potion, even if the custom potions are made via a plugin.. Please make it compatible with custom potion effects and please make it compatible with plugins like Custom Potions.. :)
Is there any possibility of an update that makes it so that the bow simply won't use the potion when it detects a stack and only the first permission is enabled?
Also, any chance of an option to make the use of this hinge upon wearing full leather?
Release source please? Or update?
@BodhiBob
It works but occasionally it glitches and doesn't handle stacked potions very well. (Removes the whole stack)
Working?
Getting this error pop up occasionally. http://pastie.org/4090864
This looks very cool, but there's one thing that should be added to make it perfect for me. I would like to choose (via perms?) which potions people can bind to their arrows, because a perfect shot with a bow + instant harm II seems a little overpowered to me ;)
@TobalJackson
Well, there is no config file, so don't worry that you don't see one. All the configurations are handled through permissions. I would double check that the permission:
is spelled right or try as an OP.
The only other thing I can think of is that you are trying to queue potions but don't have at least one potion in the slot to the immediate right of the bow you are using. If there is not a potion in that right hand side slot, the mod will not apply potions to the target.
Hope you get things worked out!
Great-sounding plugin- Whenever I add it, i get the console feedback, [code]2012-04-16 13:03:56 [INFO] [Vanilla] Enabling Vanilla v0.2 2012-04-16 13:03:56 [INFO] [PotionArrows] Enabling PotionArrows v0.3.1 2012-04-16 13:03:56 [INFO] PotionArrows v0.3.1 Plugin Enabled! 2012-04-16 13:03:56 [INFO] [GB.Rewarder] Enabling GB.Rewarder v1.7.1[/code]
but the plugin's config folder/files never generate. Any type of plugin I should be looking for conflicts with? I run AutoItemBarReload16.jar which is the only thing I can think of that may modify the plugin's behavior.
In game, the entire plugin doesn't function, i.e. no potion stacking (have enabled permission - potionarrows.queue) and potions next to the bow don't attach to the arrow. Any suggestions?
@Ethrock
Firstly, just wanted to make sure you are using splash potions on the mobs because regular potions will always be applied to the player if enabled.
Second, undead mobs are immune to poison as well as regeneration. I just tested this again on my server and was able to kill a zombie in 2 barely charged shots when using Splash Potion of Healing II.
I believe the plugin does work (at least it is for me), but maybe not in the way you hoped it would. I decided when making this plugin not to change how potions affected mobs, but if people are interested, I could work on option that makes potionarrows more effective than normal for the next version.
The potions are being removed from my inventory but are having absolutely no effect on mobs. Without zombies are taking 3 fully charged shots to kill, with one level 2 healing potion (which has a negative damage effect on the undead of course) it still takes three fully charged shots. Poison potions do not effect mobs either, (and I was not using it on spiders or cave spiders). So far all the plugin does is eat up my potions :(
I'd really love to get this working, everyone on our server was very excited about it!
Seems cool
@graywolf336
thanks, I'll fix it as soon as I can.
I got this error earlier today http://dev.bukkit.org/paste/4972/
@MrMalm
I appreciate the reply, and look forward to the next version!
@ezbik
As far as I know it would be impossible to craft a new potion-dipped-arrow item without using Spout.
However, it is possible to queue up additional potions to the left of a 'Bow&Potion' and they will be consumed first. Right now this type of 'stacking' is limited to potions of the same type. In the next version (which should be done soon), the queuing will be configurable based on permissions to enable stacking potions of any type. Hopefully, this will be acceptable for most people.
Wasn't sure if its possible, but could a way to stack the splash potions be added in, or maybe a way to 'apply' the splash potion itself to an arrow, or stack of arrows (i.e. drop potion in inventory on an arrow/stack of arrows)?
@ezbik
Thanks! Please request any features you would like to see added or report problems.
