Mobile Admin for Minecraft
Mobile Admin for Minecraft is an Android server administration tool and server side plugin that provides users the ability to manage and maintain their Minecraft server from their mobile phone. Mobile Admin for Minecraft allows users to change server settings, perform common player administration tasks (such as banning users, setting op status, giving items, kicking users and messaging them), plugin management and real-time chat.
I just wanted to say as of CraftBukkit #2974 1.7.2-R0.2 the plugin is working fully for my server. Using the fix below even the console view is working.
@csminecraft
Thanks, I'll look into this. Another quick fix, if you have access to the underlying operating system, is to create a symbolic link from "logs/latest.log" to a "server.log" file in the minecraft root. You lose the colour formatting but it's better than nothing.
@TheLecturer I figured I would give you and everyone else heads up that this plugin seems to be working just fine. The logging can be changed to support minecraft mobile admin! Per EvilSeph's Bukkit posting you can chage the logging format like so. Now using this information you can change your formatting on a file called log4j2.xml:
Using an altered run command like so:
Now full plugin features have been restored! You keep the new logging format archive but still have a server.log file in the root of your install.
Anyone saying no support is terrible is mistaken. The fact that I have not had to update this plugin for more than a year is amazing!
Paid for this crap on Play store. Zero support for a year now. I wonder if we could make Google take this con down from Play store...
Edit: Reported as inappropriate @ Play store because people are being conned with software that does not work as advertised. I suggest you all do the same. The dev has on purpose turned off comments on Google Play so he could keep getting money on a piece of crap software that hasn't been a-ok for quite some time now.
Please update this plugin.
I don't think this is maintained any more so this is a bit of a long shot, but here goes anyway...
This plugin is semi-broken with 1.7.2. Main operations are still okay, and I can monitor chat. However the "console" view no longer works as I assume it is scanning "server.log", which has moved with 1.7.2 into the "logs" folder and is now called "latest.log".
If the author is watching, an update would be appreciated.
While I'm at it - enhancement request. It would be good to be able to see private messages in the chat also - perhaps a configuration option, with the ability to supply a list of the commands which invoke a private chat, as I guess these differ from plugin to plugin, e.g. "/msg", "/tell", "/m", "/r".
Thanks.
I've been using this plugin since it was released, which was Sept. 2012 with no issues. honestly don't understand the problem. The author made a product that works and works well, hasn't required an update for almost a year and a half (still working for me on 1.6.4). The instructions for using this are pretty straight forward.
I say more power to him for making something that doesn't require a shitton of maintenance.
I do assume that the changes with 1.7 will require this to be altered though. We'll see.
Typical Micro$oft bullshitness: dev creates a project which costs others money, and doesn't update it again; his site uses their bullshit tech, so he left it so that he could fund using that piece of shit..
I bought the app on google market and truly hope this will get a well needed update.
If not, well, I also bought mcmyadmin :P
@Will98789
I agree it is a shame that this plugin is no longer maintained (yet still for sale on Google Play) - if you click the author's name it says he has not logged in here since Feb 2013.
However... I can confirm that it does work on 1.6.4, and I am using it successfully on my server. The configuration is quite tricky, especially if you are on a hosted server. Take a look through the posts below, some of the previous comments may help you.
1.6.4
Seriously you need to make a 1.6.4 version of this plugin because it is not compatible with my minecraft server and I am kinda pissed
@kidmilo10
I also rent a server and works fine for me - email the hosts and ask them to redirect the MobileAdmin port to your server. They may give you a new port number to use, if so, just ensure you put that new port number in the MobileAdmin config file on your server, and also on your mobile device.
I rent a server, I have trid countless times and it won't work
@jtpetch
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It works now! Thank you!!!
@TheLecturer
Thanks so much for all this help! Luckily for me, my ip is already static, so i'll see if this works.
@jtpetch
Ok, so from your questions I'm going to assume your computer is in your own home, connected to the internet via a broadband router. Things are therefore a little more complex, as you have two IP addresses to deal with now - one is a "private" IP address that works only within your home, the other is a "public" IP address that allows internet traffic to reach your home via your router.
To add further complication, both these address might be "dynamic", meaning they will change from time to time.
The private IP address of your computer probably starts with 192.xxx.xxx.xxx - you won't be able to access it (for Minecraft or MobileAdmin) when away from home using this 192 address. You need to log into your router and look for something like "WAN IP" - this is the address you need to enter into MobileAdmin config on your mobile device. Then when away from home, your mobile device knows how to reach your router, your router sees the port number :5839, and assuming you have set up the port forwarding, the router then knows to pass that signal on to your computer at address 192.xxx.xxx.xxx (or whatever it is).
Hope this works for you.
Other things you can do. 1. Fix the IP address of your computer so it doesn't keep changing - look in the "DHCP" settings of your router, it will be serving IP addresses for a certain "range" of address. Pick an address outside this range and assign it to your computer (in the network settings on your computer). 2. Look into a service called "dynamic dns" - this is probably something you will have to pay for - you can register a domain name (e.g. www.jtpetch.com) and then have a dynamic dns company (such as dyndns) redirect that domain name to whatever your router WAN IP address is - this is useful because your WAN IP will likely change every so often, as it assigned dynamically by your internet provider.
@TheLecturer
On my phone app it says that ip is invalid, with the :5839 after it
@TheLecturer
So i go into my router settings and port foreward 5839. But to what ip? My computer's? Thank you for your time thelecturer!
@jtpetch
Yes, you'll need to forward the port 5839 to your server.
@TheLecturer
So, do i port foreward the mobile admin port (5839)?
