I recommend that you add a hunger and health flag, these flags when enabled in a region will keep the player's health and hunger at the specified value or of this is not possible full (ex. player.setHealth(20) in PlayerMoveEvent). This would be useful in game servers so that they can keep peoples hunger and health full in some games (for example spleef).
There is a hunger flag, and various damage flags to prevent health from going down. There currently isn't an architecture in place for setting values other than true or false. It's something I have considered but it's way off on the horizon.
As an update, my current timeline has this slated for 2.1 assuming nothing changes.
