BDchat
Welcome.
Links are down below for commandsThe documentation is currently outdated for this plugin. Most of the docs are still correct, and the rest will be updated soon.
Overview
BDchat aka Blocky Development Chat adds chat channels to your Minecraft server! There are several different types of channels you can use, and they are made to be configurable as possible meaning that you can make your own channels, and you can add as many channels as you want to. You can also set permissions to set who can talk and/or view messages sent in a certain channel.

- How to Help
- - If you are a programmer and would like to help me make this plugin I uploaded it to Github!
- - If you are not a programmer, but you have ideas on how to improve the default channels submit your changes to the config file on Github!
- - Of course, we also need people to know that this plugin exists! Let the admins of your server know about this plugin!
Update News
BDchat v3.0 released!
BDchat v3.0 released!
Please check the change log for more information about this release! It is currently beta, and you can expect a stable release soon.
@Addicted_24_7
Ok, I'll work on that then :D
Again, thanks for helping me test!
Current bug that has been found.
When you reload and have the default channel set to g, it is really in l so its all local chat, till you do /cc g.
requests
1) can you add the alias of /ch <channel>
2) add the option of leaving a channel
3) finding a way to short cut the /ch command so we can use /l <msg>
@dropposite
I released an update to fix that error. However I was not able to reproduce the permissions bug on my testing server. I would really appreciate it if you would put your config in a pastebin and post the link here.
@Addicted_24_7I get the same error, but also, I cannot use any channels as it says I have no permissions. Are we sure the nodes listed are correct? I created a channel called V and apply permission BDchat.V.Talk and BDchat.V.View and still nothing. but BDchat.cc does let me change channels so i see that channel is valid.
I just released yet another update that is awaiting the approval of Bukkit. I have been working really hard the last few days to get this plugin working well so that it can be used on a large server without causing any problems. I have fixed all known bugs from v2.0.1 so I am hoping that this build will work well without any bugs.
@Addicted_24_7
ok, I edited the last comment.
EDIT: I have fixed the bug, and i will release another version later today.
@stevenmg
Im using v2.0.1
@Addicted_24_7
Are you using v2.0.1 or just v2.0? I will do some testing in a little bit to see if I can get the same error.
EDIT: you were using /cc global to change your channel. The name of the channel is "g" not "global". I will fix the console error with the next update. I am also getting the error with /cc which I thought I had fixed earlier. I tested to make sure that it is still working, and it is. The only problems are with the unhanded errors when you use the command wrong.
]Um I was thrown an error when I did /cc.
Here is the error
https://github.com/Addicted247/Errors/blob/master/BDchat
and my config
@monstercat101
Could you post the error report and more information please? Use a pastebin though so that it doesn't spam the comments.
Also, if you are using v2.0 I recommend updating to 2.0.1 which fixed a lot of bugs.
I get internal server error?
I just uploaded version 2.0.1 It is not yet approved by bukkit, but it should be soon! :) I fixed the console error when a player typed /cc, and I also fixed the prefixes. You need to use essentials chat now, and put in {BDchat} in the config where you want the prefix. I also made that you can type /cc (channel) (message) to send a message in a different channel, but stay in your current channel for future messages.
Thanks for reporting the bug guys! I am aware of the faction tag bug, and it was listed in the incompatibilities section. I am working on a fix for it, and It should be working properly in the next release.
I did not know about the problem with /cc however, but that to will be fixed in the next release.
A modifiable command alias and a command to list channels are both planned features, but those might slip to a later release depending on how much time I have to work on it.
@felixferr0w Hearing someone say my plugin is one of the best means a lot! Thanks :D and I will keep improving it.
@felixferr0w
You can change the command in the plugin.yml inside the .zip.
@alek123222
@stevenmg
WOW... I get a similar error too... and I also agree with the modifiable command alias. It would be nice if you can add something in the config that allows you to change it. I am sure there are plenty of people out there who would love to see this feature implemented :) BTW, one of the best plugins.
Hello I am running BDchat v2.0 for 1.5.1 and this error comes up when I type in /cc http://pastebin.com/2YpzvvfQ
but I can do /cc g ect. However even if I am in a faction the prefix is just [FACTION]
Also is it possible for you to add an option to change the command to what ever we want or just change it to /chat (channel name) also /chat should show all the channels .
I just uploaded a file for BDchat v2.0! It is currently awaiting approval though so it should be ready for downloads soon. :D
@Robson112011
I will be releasing that within the next few days. I was working on a complete code rewrite which is why it has not been released yet.
And for CB 1.5?
@kjly
Neither of the things you just mentioned are possible with the current version of BDchat, but I am already working on the second thing. As for the delay idea I will add an option for that sometime in the future, but I have other things at high priority right now so I'm not sure how soon that will be finished.
EDIT: This comment was based off of BDchat v1.0 The latest version adds some of the features mentioned in this comment.
