TradeSigns

This project is abandoned and its default file will likely not work with the most recent version of Minecraft. Whether this project is out of date or its author has marked it as abandoned, this project is no longer maintained.

TradeSigns is a unique plugin that offers dynamically changing prices to classic styled sign shops. As players buy/sell more goods, the prices will increase/decrease to add a changing economy to the game. They way this plugin works is percent chances, which are displayed to tell the player whether they should hold off trading until a better deal comes along. The further away a price is from the original base price, the more likely it is to return to the original price.

We wanted players to have to use their heads when coming to using sign shops - instead of them just mindlessly trading. This plugin makes allows them to see current price of their goods, and gives them the decision to come back when prices could have risen/fallen.

The blue percentage shows you the chance of the price decreasing - So a high chance is good for buying, whereas the green percent is the chance of it increasing - good for selling.

Claiming a Sign

Once you have a sign set up, you now need to claim it (it must be in the correct format). To do this, look at the sign and type /claimsign To claim an admin sign (this has infinite stock), use /claimsign admin (you must also be an op to do this)

Restocking Signs

To restock a sign, you must right click your own sign with the item, to then take stock out you can shift right click and the items will come out. To check the stock you can left click (but be careful if you are in creative mode as this will break the sign).

Dynamic Prices

Some people get slightly confused about how the last line works, so here is an explanation:

The first percentage is the chance of the item decreasing. If you want to sell, this is obviously bad, however if you are looking to buy, this would mean the price would be likely to go down again every time you buy.

The second percentage is the chance of the item increasing. If you want to buy this time, this is obviously bad, however if you are looking to sell, this would mean the price would be likely to go up again every time you sell.

However, it is also possible to get around this by creating and using the trade signs. This will allow you to trade 1 type of item for another and get around the dynamic pricing of the buy and sell signs. Despite this, it also means that you are limited to a 1 to 1 item trade and so must think carefully about whether to use this or not.

Why did we make this?

We wanted a role-playing server based around different cities that needed different goods more than others. Creating TradeSigns made players think about whether or not they should sell all their items straight away, instead they could wait for others to use the signs, and wait until prices went the way needed to maximise profit.

Our server has more custom made plugins to add more of a role-playing touch, play now at: play.trade-craft.net
