About plugin:

You are tired of crafting the torch? Do you think that Notch is not just deprived of this valuable object of attention and did not let the players reveal its full potential? The plugin will help you get rid of that misunderstanding.

Command:

No Commands! (Recode)

permissions:

- BTL.LIght - Light Permission

Activate:

TorchLight

1. Keep an item from config

2. Right click and have fun

HeadLamp

1. Put your head on a block that is specified in the config file

2, SHIFT + Right Click and have fun :D

FlashLight

1. Materials needed:

Redstone Torch

Glowstone Dust x3

Gunpower

2. Right Click and have fun

I like the idea. The plugin works as described and hand-held torches sure have the potential to add an atmospheric element to role-playing.

Sadly, this also seems to induce immense amounts of lag to our server because of all the lighting-related chunk updates. Even when I'm far away from any other players, after walking around a bit with a torch in my hand, the next few actions are virtually not registered by the server until it manages to catch up, which affects other players as well.

Would it be possible to run these specific updates in a low priority thread, or at least throttle them in some way, to smoothen out the effects they have on other events ?

A shift right-click thing to turn on and off the lamp would be AWESOME. :D And yeah. For certain items, you should definitely have the lamp force-turned on (or an option in the config), like a Lava Bucket and Glowstone. :P And maybe add Redstone Lamps. :D

I love this idea, but the immortal monsters make the game unplayable with this plugin. Please fix and update!

Also, when you update it, make sure when you stand on half slabs with it. Right now it doesn't work when you're standing on a half slab.

it emits a light from all lighted blocks/items, say I have this enabled and torch toggled on, the minecraft torch would emit a light around player even though you have not placed the torch ^^
