I've started writing a python script to generate sudo-random biomes for Terrain-Control. I don't have a clue what I'm doing, and it's 2AM, but here is what I've got started. I'll continue another day.

    Hi,
    random biomes in TC ???
Why on earth somebody ought to want any randomness in TC ?
(...TC is just the opposite of random, but may be I don´t understand correct what you are trying to program.)

    Bye, mysource

Yep. Random. Or, rather, randomly generate a set of biomes to see if you like any of them, and pick the ones you want for your final world. Mostly, this is being done as a personal 'learn python script writing' exercise, plus I've always liked randomness.

Thats just not true. Most people like randomness - I for one wouldn't want to make my worlds with FromImage only (I use it only to finetune and do stuff thats not possible in TC). For big maps with lots of detail would be too much work, and also I like to be suprised by the results of the random generation.

Personally I wouldn't want to play on really completely random world like you could make with this script, but I think it could be a lot of fun just to see what comes out of it.

I do plan on putting in a list of settings at the beginning, to limit what materials can be used, or limit the range of the values, but starting with the throttle full open, so to speak. Still, only about 10% through the code so far.

I created a world with 18 biomes created from this:

Is there a limit to how many biomes TC will play well with?

    Hi,
despite I still don´t see what your script may be do as any benefit (as TC is the opposit of random for heavens sake), your question is answerde in the "changelogs":

    2.1.5
    ....
    Update max biomes to 256
    ....
    Bye mysource

Well, I'm getting a bit wonky and tired, but here is where I am:

Running about 100+ custom biomes there. On my test server, no problem, works fine. On my main server, I keep getting the following gamelocking error:

    http:pastebin.com/gh810a6m

    repeating the last 4 until I get a java.lang.StackOveflowError.

While the error is happening the console chat still goes out and affects the game and can be seen by players. players are able to move but not affect the world or talk. I'm too tired to troubleshoot this right now. Maybe later this week.

That's neat, I like seeing people push the boundaries and doing things out of the box.
