Tekkit Restrict

[v1.00] Set "*" Permissions and MicroPermissions

Tekkit Restrict (requires Tekkit Classic)

"My initial opinion of having my own server was that players would get along. Boy, was I wrong. Only 2 days after my server's release, I already had 7 players who duped Gem Armor and blew up spawn about a trillion times. After setting gem armor to a certain rank, they then torched my spawn. After disabling most of EE until a certain playtime rank, they then found their own way around my disabling plugin. (noitem)

Then I decided to make Tekkit Restrict..." - DreadSlicer

Metrics

Tekkit Restrict uses Hidendra's plugin metrics system, and as of version 1.18 also uses TMetrics by Taeir. This means that the following information is collected and sent to mcstats.org and metrics.taico.nl:

  • A unique identifier
  • The server's Java version
  • Whether the server is in offline or online mode
  • The plugin's version
  • The minecraft version of the server
  • The OS version/name and architecture
  • The amount of CPU cores
  • The amount of memory allocated to your server
  • The number of players online
  • The Metrics version

If you wish to disable Metrics, you can do so by opt-ing out, which you can do in the Metrics config file under /plugins/PluginMetrics/
You can disable TMetrics in the General.config.yml file under /plugins/TekkitRestrict/

Auto-updater

Tekkit Restrict has a built-in auto-updater, which connects to BukkitDev to check for updates. If you want to change or disable this behaviour, you can change the update settings in the General.config.yml file.

I found some older tickets that described the same problem. At the time, it was supposedly fixed by disabling the AutoRPTimer, but this will not help in current versions. I completely changed the AutoRPTimer. It now just changes the min value in redpower, something server owners can set themselves in the redpower config. It's now nothing more than a convenient shortcut to set the minimal interval.

EDIT: While typing this message and trying to explain what TekkitRestrict does, I might have found the problem.

When the block 136 (redpower tubes, covers and wires) has to be removed (because it is banned, or blocked because it is placed near a LWC lockable), tekkitrestrict has to manually remove it's tile entity. When getting this tile entity, since the cover is only half placed at that time, strange things could occur.

I will change when it removes the cover to see if that can fix the problem.

I cannot seem to find the error in the ee code itself. Since the error is thrown in minecraft code at world.getTileEntity(), there is no way for me to catch the error. When I added a workaround where all calls from ee go to a method which does have a try catch, other mods started to get tile entity errors.

Minecraft is coded synchronously, so the tile entity list should not be able to be modified within a tick. If an error like this one occurs, it means that a mod or a plugin is changing the list within a tick (asynchronously) or is looping through it and changing it in that loop. I don't see any part of the ee code where it loops through the list making changes to it, it only gets tile entities subsequently.

I did a stress test with ee where I created more than 100000 collectors and relays, and no problems occured, apart from the expected immense lag and tps drop (10TPS). On bigger servers with a lot of players though, it seems to happen randomly and frequently.

I do wonder, are you using spigot or craftbukkit+ +?

If you use spigot and an error occurs, it will list what each thread is doing at the time of the error, causing a massive error log. It only listed that the TR entity disabler thread is currently sleeping (doing nothing).

    @Taeir

Well... I found the problem. Its cause by the fact that all Collectors and Relays and Condensors are all register to the server as a TileEntity, and what happens is when a collector sends energy to a Relay which then sends it to a Condensor, each time it sends energy it registers in the TileEntity Array List, which being accessed by an Iterator's "next" when casting to a TileEntity. When you have HUNDRED's of collectors on the server it gets to the point where the array list cant handle it anymore and throws the exception "ConcurrentModificationException"

Please I ask you to find a way to fix this, I'm having multiple crashes per day.

    Thanks, Dablakbandit
