TARDIS

What it does

TARDIS is a plugin that gives you the ability to create a Police Box that lets you time travel (teleport) to random locations. It adds a Whovian twist to the typical /sethome and /home commands.

As a player, you can:

  • Create a TARDIS that is bigger on the inside.
  • Time travel to a random location.
  • Time travel back home (where you created the TARDIS initially).
  • Save and list interesting time travel locations, so you can return to them easily.
  • Take companions with you when you time travel.
  • Make your TARDIS blend in with the Chameleon Circuit.
  • Use your own schematic to build the TARDIS interior
  • Grow new TARDIS rooms
  • Use Artron Energy
  • Remote control the TARDIS
  • Custom TARDIS sounds with companion Resource Pack
  • Custom TARDIS textures with companion Resource Pack - requires MCPatcher with CTM and CIT

What's new?

v3.0.1

Fixed broken /tardisroom add command

v3.0

To avoid any confusion, this version is for CraftBukkit 1.7.9 or higher only due to the upcoming Minecraft in-game name changing. This means the plugin will update the TARDIS database file to use player UUIDs instead of player names. This requires that the plugin connect to api.mojang.com to lookup the applicable UUIDs - the plugin does this one time when the server is started up after installing the new version the first time. For more information, please see: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/tardis/tickets/678-uuid-migration/

The TARDIS.zip file also includes a new TARDISHorseSpeed.jar for CraftBukkit 1.7.10 compatibility.

Installation

As a minimum, just drop the TARDIS.jar and any optional plugins listed below into the Bukkit plugins folder and start your server. For more detailed instructions see: http://eccentricdevotion.github.io/TARDIS/installation.html

Optional installs

These are not needed for TARDIS to function, but enhance the plugin with extra features...

  • Install the TARDIS Resource Pack in the Minecraft client to hear custom TARDIS sounds
  • Install Multiverse so you have multiple worlds to travel to. This is also required if you want to generate TARDISes in their own self-conatined world, and grow rooms.
  • Install the TARDISChunkGenerator plugin so that you can generate TARDISes in their own self-conatined world (included in the ZIP download).
  • Install WorldGuard to automatically protect your TARDIS from griefing, and stop mobs spawning in TARDIS worlds.
  • Install WorldBorder to restrict the size of the worlds generated for TARDIS occupation.
  • Install TARDISWeepingAngels to add some Whovian mobs to the game.
  • Install a Permissions plugin, so that you can restrict or grant players the rights to use TARDIS’ different features. We like PermissionsBukkit.
  • Install ProtocolLib so that the TARDIS Zero Room is completely detached from the universe and the TARDIS Keyboard is editable by clicking it
  • Install LibsDisguises so that you can use the Genetic Manipulator / Immortality Gate

Bugs / Requests

Please post a ticket for TARDIS plugin requests and bugs, thank you :)

WARNING: I am no longer prepared to waste my time looking at incomplete tickets. If your ticket does not follow the guidelines set out below, it will be deleted immediately!

Make sure you have read the FAQs first, as your question may already be answered there.

If you are going to create a BUG ticket you need to supply relevant information (as I'm not a mind reader, nor do I have access to your server...) - as a minimum you need:

  1. Exact CraftBukkit version i.e. NOT 'the latest' - use the /tardis version command
  2. Exact TARDIS version i.e. NOT 'the latest' - use the /tardis version command
  3. The server log showing the entire error (as a paste or wrapped in <<code>> tags - NOT a screenshot) - if no error in the log, then a video of the bug happening or the EXACT steps needed to reproduce the issue.
  4. Attach your plugins/TARDIS/config.yml file
  5. Attach your plugins/TARDIS/TARDIS.db file
  6. List of other plugins on server
  7. And read this: How to file bugs

Stats

Basic statistics are collected for some versions of the TARDIS plugin (v2.5.8 and earlier). You can opt out at any time by setting opt-out: true in plugins/PluginMetrics/config.yml

External web access

Version 2.8 of this plugin includes a translation feature (the /tardissay command) that connects to Microsoft's translation service. The URLs it connects to are:

You can prevent players from using the command by removing / not giving them the permission tardis.translate

Yes it's in v2.2-beta, you can download it from the TARDIS Jenkins server, build #48 or #49, should be pretty stable, however later builds are to be considered experimental as I'm adding the ability to add custom room schematics...

Schematic is subject to change, as ewized probably needs to do his magic on this one too. Permission node is: tardis.redstone

Hi, I think I have resolved the issue. I deleted the contents of the plugins folder, then put in the new jars, ran the server once, then I copied the old database file back to the appropriate folder, ran the server and now it works. I think the problem was that the new jar somehow messed up the database file so it was as if I never had a Tardis. It is weird though, because one would assume that merely replacing one jar with another shouldn't mess up with it. Anyway, issue solved (I haven't slept much because of it) and thanks a lot for this amazing plugin! You're the best!

    @Boru9: Go

When developing the plugin, I update the plugin after each code change so I can test it (this can be multiple times an hour...) and I have never lost the link between the TARDIS and my player.

There is no way I can fix this with the information you have given me... are there anyTARDIS errors in the server log? What version of TARDIS? What version of CraftBukkit? Are you actually running CB or some other server variant? List of other plugins? Are you using something that changes your player name?

Please post a ticket with as much info as possible!

Each time I update the Tardis plugin, it breaks the link between me and my Tardis - the game doesn't recognise me as a Timelord and I eventually have to manually break the old Tardis and grow a new one. Is there a way to fix this?

I wish you could choose whether to use a world or not based on the TARDIS size, for example, deluxe and eleventh TARDISes use their own worlds and regular and bigger TARDISes use the default world.
