What it does

TARDIS is a plugin that gives you the ability to create a Police Box that lets you time travel (teleport) to random locations. It adds a Whovian twist to the typical /sethome and /home commands.

As a player, you can:

  • Create a TARDIS that is bigger on the inside.
  • Time travel to a random location.
  • Time travel back home (where you created the TARDIS initially).
  • Save and list interesting time travel locations, so you can return to them easily.
  • Take companions with you when you time travel.
  • Make your TARDIS blend in with the Chameleon Circuit.
  • Use your own schematic to build the TARDIS interior
  • Grow new TARDIS rooms
  • Use Artron Energy
  • Remote control the TARDIS
  • Custom TARDIS sounds with companion Resource Pack
  • Custom TARDIS textures with companion Resource Pack - requires MCPatcher with CTM and CIT

As a minimum, just drop the TARDIS.jar and any optional plugins listed below into the Bukkit plugins folder and start your server. For more detailed instructions see: http://eccentricdevotion.github.io/TARDIS/installation.html

Optional installs

These are not needed for TARDIS to function, but enhance the plugin with extra features...

  • Install the TARDIS-SoundResourcePack in the Minecraft client to hear custom TARDIS sounds
  • Install the TARDIS-MCP Resource Pack in the Minecraft client to see custom TARDIS textures
  • Install Multiverse-Core so you have multiple worlds to travel to. This is also required if you want to generate TARDISes in their own self-conatined world, and grow rooms.
  • Install the TARDISChunkGenerator plugin so that you can generate TARDISes in their own self-conatined world (included in the ZIP download).
  • Install WorldGuard to automatically protect your TARDIS from griefing, and stop mobs spawning in TARDIS worlds.
  • Install WorldBorder to restrict the size of the worlds generated for TARDIS occupation (or just use the vanilla Minecraft World Border feature).
  • Install TARDISWeepingAngels to add some Whovian mobs to the game.
  • Install a Permissions plugin, so that you can restrict or grant players the rights to use TARDIS’ different features. We like PermissionsBukkit.
  • Install ProtocolLib so that the TARDIS Zero Room is completely detached from the universe and the TARDIS Keyboard is editable by clicking it
  • Install LibsDisguises so that you can use the Genetic Manipulator / Immortality Gate

Bugs / Requests

Please post a ticket for TARDIS plugin requests and bugs, thank you :)

Make sure you have read the FAQs first, as your question may already be answered there. Also make sure you have searched for a previous ticket with the same/similar issue (use the Filters to search closed tickets).

If you are going to create a BUG ticket you need to supply relevant information (as I'm not a mind reader, nor do I have access to your server...) - as a minimum you need:

  1. Exact CraftBukkit version i.e. NOT 'the latest' - use the /tardis version command
  2. Exact TARDIS version i.e. NOT 'the latest' - use the /tardis version command
  3. The server log showing the entire error (as a paste or at Pastebin - NOT a screenshot) - this should be the log from when the server starts up right through to when the error occurs
  4. If no error in the log, then a video of the bug happening or the EXACT steps needed to reproduce the issue.
  5. Attach your plugins/TARDIS/config.yml file or other configuration file if relevant
  6. Attach your plugins/TARDIS/TARDIS.db file
  7. List of other plugins on server

Basic statistics are collected for some versions of the TARDIS plugin (v2.5.8 and earlier). You can opt out at any time by setting opt-out: true in plugins/PluginMetrics/config.yml

External web access

Version 2.8 (and higher) of this plugin includes a translation feature (the /tardissay command) that connects to Microsoft's translation service. The URLs it connects to are:

    You need to give them permission: tardis.enter as a minimum

    @BarzhDu: Go

    1. You might have to remove your TARDIS and start a new one, as I didn't have any issues when I created a fresh one on the server you uploaded.
    2. The thing that appears behind the door is an egg, I need an entity at the TARDIS location so that I can scan the area surrounding the Police Box for a list of farmable mobs - I can't use the player because they may be standing away from the door... the code goes something like: moblist = egg.getNearbyEntities(radius, radius, radius);
    3. I need to find a way to deal with leashes, but I can't find anything in the Bukkit API that checks if the animal is leashed, will keep looking
    4. Multiple animals bug has been fixed in the latest build

    I'm having trouble allowing other people into my TARDIS. It says they're a companion but they can't open the door.

    Is anyone having problems crafting the TARDIS Locator? I've crafted the l-circuit and the remote just fine. But when I try to craft the locator using the recipe given it does not show an item to retrieve to complete the recipe. Hope that makes sense.

    The newer version of MultiverseCore solved my breeding problems. Tried your solution for horses, but still no luck. Tried regrowing the stable several times, updating the spawn location, etc., but nothing. Removing the walls didn't help either. I never hear any dying horse sounds, so I'm not sure about that. I have noticed that when there is a horse next to the Tardis and I enter, just before I appear inside, two things happen: 1) horse disappears - normal. 2) something appears behind the Tardis door, only visible for a split second before I appear inside, so I don't know what it is. Maybe relevant, maybe not.

    Maybe something wrong with my Tardis? I grew it in 2.4, I think.

    A question: what is supposed to happen to the lead when a horse is transported into the Tardis. Just wondering.

    Also, the multiple animals bug: I'm pretty sure I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary, so I would be quite interested in knowing what caused it ;)

    Oh! alright! so its similar to named containers or command blocks? but instead of just storing names, it stores lore. but when you break a named block, you get a regular block back! i get it. thanks for clarifying.

    If farm mobs aren't breeding, it's probably because you are using Multiverse-Core 2.4, update to 2.5 (I use build #667) - http://ci.onarandombox.com/view/Multiverse/job/Multiverse-Core/

    When animals are lured inside the Tardis, the number of animals that appear inside is higher. Lured in 2 pigs and got 4.

    You [did a thing which I'm not going to detail here lest naughty players exploit it before I fix the bug] and it grabbed them twice... trying a fix now

    Loaded up your server, created a TARDIS, grew a STABLE room, spawned in some horses next to the TARDIS, entered the TARDIS:

    What I think is happening, is that the horses are spawning inside a block and dying before you get to them, you might notice in the picture that I have broken the stable walls.

    Can you try the latest Jenkins build (#255 at the time of writing) as it has an updated Stable room (jettison the existing room, stop server, delete the old stable.schematic and .csv, start server, and grow a new room) and an altered spawn location, and also has a /tardis update stable command to set the block the horses spawn on (if you want to make your own stables room).

    I just remembered that we can have animated textures, for your texture pack you should have a block which shows the time vortex when traveling.

    whoops. i lied. there's another thing :P how are you going to keep track of meta-data on a placed block? obviously if the floor, wall, type, etc, are modular, some sort of meta data has to be stored on the seed block.
