TARDIS

What it does

TARDIS is a plugin that gives you the ability to create a Police Box that lets you time travel (teleport) to random locations. It adds a Whovian twist to the typical /sethome and /home commands.

As a player, you can:

  • Create a TARDIS that is bigger on the inside.
  • Time travel to a random location.
  • Time travel back home (where you created the TARDIS initially).
  • Save and list interesting time travel locations, so you can return to them easily.
  • Take companions with you when you time travel.
  • Make your TARDIS blend in with the Chameleon Circuit.
  • Use your own schematic to build the TARDIS interior
  • Grow new TARDIS rooms
  • Use Artron Energy
  • Remote control the TARDIS
  • Custom TARDIS sounds with companion Resource Pack
  • Custom TARDIS textures with companion Resource Pack - requires MCPatcher with CTM and CIT

What's new?

v2.9.2

To avoid any confusion, this version is for CraftBukkit 1.7.9 or higher only due to the upcoming Minecraft in-game name changing. This means the plugin will update the TARDIS database file to use player UUIDs instead of player names. This requires that the plugin connect to api.mojang.com to lookup the applicable UUIDs - the plugin does this one time when the server is started up after installing the new version the first time. For more information, please see: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/tardis/tickets/678-uuid-migration/

The TARDIS.zip file also includes a new TARDISHorseSpeed.jar for CraftBukkit 1.7.9 compatibility.

Installation

As a minimum, just drop the TARDIS.jar and any optional plugins listed below into the Bukkit plugins folder and start your server. For more detailed instructions see: http://eccentricdevotion.github.io/TARDIS/installation.html

Note v2.8 needs to have WorldGuard & WorldEdit on the server for the plugin to enable. (Fixed in build #780 and higher)

Optional installs

These are not needed for TARDIS to function, but enhance the plugin with extra features...

  • Install the TARDIS Resource Pack in the Minecraft client to hear custom TARDIS sounds
  • Install Multiverse so you have multiple worlds to travel to. This is also required if you want to generate TARDISes in their own self-conatined world, and grow rooms.
  • Install the TARDISChunkGenerator plugin so that you can generate TARDISes in their own self-conatined world (included in the ZIP download).
  • Install WorldGuard to automatically protect your TARDIS from griefing, and stop mobs spawning in TARDIS worlds.
  • Install WorldBorder to restrict the size of the worlds generated for TARDIS occupation.
  • Install TARDISWeepingAngels to add some Whovian mobs to the game.
  • Install a Permissions plugin, so that you can restrict or grant players the rights to use TARDIS’ different features. We like PermissionsBukkit.
  • Install ProtocolLib so that the TARDIS Zero Room is completely detached from the universe and the TARDIS Keyboard is editable by clicking it
  • Install LibsDisguises so that you can use the Genetic Manipulator / Immortality Gate

Bugs / Requests

Please post a ticket for TARDIS plugin requests and bugs, thank you :)

WARNING: I am no longer prepared to waste my time looking at incomplete tickets. If your ticket does not follow the guidelines set out below, it will be deleted immediately!

Make sure you have read the FAQs first, as your question may already be answered there.

If you are going to create a BUG ticket you need to supply relevant information (as I'm not a mind reader, nor do I have access to your server...) - as a minimum you need:

  1. Exact CraftBukkit version i.e. NOT 'the latest' - use the /tardis version command
  2. Exact TARDIS version i.e. NOT 'the latest' - use the /tardis version command
  3. The server log showing the entire error (as a paste or wrapped in <<code>> tags - NOT a screenshot) - if no error in the log, then a video of the bug happening or the EXACT steps needed to reproduce the issue.
  4. Attach your plugins/TARDIS/config.yml file
  5. Attach your plugins/TARDIS/TARDIS.db file
  6. List of other plugins on server
  7. And read this: How to file tickets

Stats

Basic statistics are collected for some versions of the TARDIS plugin (v2.5.8 and earlier). You can opt out at any time by setting opt-out: true in plugins/PluginMetrics/config.yml

External web access

Version 2.8 of this plugin includes a translation feature (the /tardissay command) that connects to Microsoft's translation service. The URLs it connects to are:

You can prevent players from using the command by removing / not giving them the permission tardis.translate

    @gerry6362: Go

    I'm still not getting what you are trying to achieve here:

    • TARDIS is not a permissions manager, nor is is ever likely to be... What permissions does an op need to set by going into the players TARDIS? The only issue I am aware of is non-op players not being able to break blocks because of the spawn-protection setting in server.properties, but this is not permissions related.
    • The setting is: create_worlds: true + (the other requirements as detailed below). If it is not in open space, then it's probably not creating its own world...

    Sorry I should have been more clear ...

    2) I would like to have a prebuilt permissions set created automatically when a New Tardis is built ... Right now an op has to go with the new Time Lord into there TARDIS and create the permissions.

    3) Just recently a couple of TARDIS's have been created and the new TARDIS world has not been open space. Is this a glitch or is there a setting somewhere?

    @gerry6362: Go

    1. TARDIS does not do anything with player inventories, another plugin must be controlling this
    2. there are NO permissions for generating a TARDIS world, but it does require Multiverse (which you have), TARDISChunkGenerator (should be in the TARDIS.zip file) and create_worlds: true in the TARDIS config (check with /tardisadmin config)
    3. If you have 2 sorted above then 3 happens automatically

    I may be asking this im the wrong area and I apologize if this is the case. I'm running TARDIS with Multiverse core and GroupManager.

    I have 3 issues.

    1) I can't figure out how to make inventory move across worlds with my members,

    2) How to get permissions to auto generate in a new TARDIS world.

    3) How do I force TARDIS's to ONLY be created in space.

    Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    @ccattell: Go

    Basic TARDIS permissions are tardis.use if you want them to be able to grow rooms, add tardis.room (for all room types), or tardis.room.<room type> for selected rooms. Also the bigger TARDIS sizes are tardis.bigger, tardis.deluxe and tardis.eleventh

    thanks, that fixed that issue now if i can just figure out how to give permissions to all users to create one....

  • Avatar of Ginzaki Ginzaki Feb 21, 2013 at 10:05 UTC - 0 likes

    Yea I figured, but I thought it was worth pointing out.

    Looking forward to the finalized version, and thanks for being awesome.

    Side thought a member of my sever proposed: Have you considered making a separate elevator mod that used that used the gravity well idea to make configurable elevators?

    Another proposal was a type of gravity well that changed the world's point of gravity (or whatever you want to call it) as you traveled in it. He claims the Doctor's TARDIS had rooms like this, but I haven't seen the episodes they're in if he's right, and I don't know how possible the idea is. Just passing it along.

    @Ginzaki: Go

    Will be fixed in the final v2.0 release (due this weekend)

    A 'bound' lever just runs the same /tardis hide command when you hit the lever, so no surprise there...

  • Avatar of Ginzaki Ginzaki Feb 21, 2013 at 09:18 UTC - 0 likes

    Yes, I also tried binding the command to a lever on the console and using it and I got the same message.

    @ccattell: Go

    How did you set create_worlds in the config? Check the current config options in game by typing /tardisadmin config

    Don't manually edit the file and then use reload, as that won't work (the plugin saves the current config onDisable, which will just overwrite the manual edit). Use the TARDIS admin command to set config options: /tardisadmin create_worlds true
