Earn enchanted items you can take to other servers (that use this plugin)!

RareItems is based on the philosophy that if something is rare or unique it is therefore more valuable, which is something Minecraft often lacks.

List of Rare Item Types

  • Earn powerful items
  • Take earned RareItems to other servers that have the plugin installed
  • Trade with other players on authorized trade servers

RareItems are generated with random properties for random players on a central database that all servers with the RareItems plugin can read from.

Each RareItem has a specific persistent ability or spell it can cast.

These enchantments generally come with a cost however, which is configurable as food (default) or XP. Additionally only a certain (configurable) amount of RareItems can be active at a time, the rest are kept in storage.

When will my players start getting RareItems?

Short answer: 30 minutes to a few days

Long answer: Every 15 minutes there is a chance someone (among all the RareItems-enabled servers) will receive a rareitem from the central rareitem database. This chance will increase with the number of players active in the database.

As soon as your server comes online players joining will immediately be put in the lottery for receiving RareItems.

I've attempted to make the handouts as fair as possible, and to throttle players and handouts in ways that make it so everyone has a fair chance to get an item.

All that said, at the end of the day it is random, so you may not immediately see your players getting RareItems.

  • rareitems.claim - Able to check out/in rareitems using /ri claim
  • rareitems.return - Able to return blank copies of a lost item using /ri return
  • rareitems.errors- See error / out of date messages

Notably there are no commands to distribute RareItems; it is up to the apathetic hand of fate who receives an item and who does not.

Trading RareItems can be done only on authorized trading servers.

Currently the only authorized server is: rareitemsplugin.tk:25566

You can join there, trade your items as you like, and you will have the items when joining other RareItems-enabled servers.

Win RareItems

Want a non-random way to get a rareitem?

Submit your idea for a new rare item spell/ability/skill, and if it's accepted and used, you will get a unique copy of your item, three extra copies to hand out as you see fit, and a randomly generated bonus item!

I will love to ask for a custom Rareitem plugin of yours.

Things I am looking for into the plugin:

    • A lottery type, Enabled Via command / sign
    • A Enable/Disable command to be able to turn off/on the plugin ( if possible )

Hope this can become successful would love to hear some feedback

Can you release source so others can start developing the plugin for you?

My dog is cuter than yours.

Well, it was fun while it lasted.

Based on the stats for active servers I think it's best to call it a day for this plugin.

Items will still generate, and you can continue to use it, however it wont receive any additional updates.

There normally is, the server is almost never down. You can turn on debug mode true to see the traffic between the server.

There is a message and it is announced, however as of yet it's not configurable.

I'm thinking maybe some sort of command to check whether or not there is a connection present to the master server? Been having this installed for a couple of days now, and i have no clue if its acting up as its supposed to do.

Also... does a message appear when an item gets given to a person? Does the message go to the person, or the entire server? Could this be configured perhaps? something along the lines of that. :) Otherwise i love the idea.

I understand that, but this plugin wasn't engineered to run on a per server basis. You might look into DiabloDrops, or GreatLoot, those are closer to what you're looking for and could likely be modified to be chest-based fairly easily.

One of the issues in developing it was keeping servers from being able to exploit it, and giving them any control over item generation allows them to do so. For example, a server could write a plugin to emulate thousands of players joining a server to generate items.

Don't get me wrong, I love the whole community thing with the different servers, and I like how admins can't give them out. However, this isn't really fitting for my server, I have made big elaborate dungeons on my server and wanted them to be loot. I was just wondering if somewhere in the configs or in the the commands ( I realize people have asked this but i'm a persistent son of a bitch.)

Or another suggestion is, if you could add chests per server where items can spawn like they would in an Inv and you get like say one chest every 100 people who have visited.

    Added v0.9

I've also created a page that lists all active rare item types:

Well, most RPG plugins provide a near identical set of features, you could use any one of those. The whole point of this is being able to collect and keep items.

I am however looking into adding restrictions, so you can limit which types of items people can bring onto the server.

Generally though, I've tried to make it so most abilities granted aren't game breakers.
