Orebfuscator - Anti X-RAY:

Version: 3.0.5

This plugin is used to counter X-RAY Client mods.

It modifies data that are sent to clients to hide blocks of your choice, such as Ore, chests, dungeons, etc.

It does not manipulate blocks in the world file, thus is safe to use.

ProximityHider is a feature that hides chests that are far from players.


Configuration Guide





Dropbox link removed due to Bukkit regulations. Latest version should be on BukkitDev, if not, then the dropbox link is still in the forum thread.

Please also download ProtocolLib and install it in the plugins folder. Download link: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/protocollib/


  • Advanced algorithm that hides ore, chest and and anything you specify in the configuration
  • Spout compatible, but optional
  • No modifications to CraftBukkit.jar is needed
  • Customize the blocks you want to hide
  • HIDES DUNGEONS and other blocks that are in the dark
  • Different hiding mode, or scrambling.
  • Extensive configuration. Change updating methods depending on your bandwidth and processing speed.
  • Hide hidden chests and furnaces until a player is close to it.


Install: Copy "Orebfuscator.jar" to your plugins folder, and restart/reload your server.

    There used to be one, but then it got deprecated as you can disable stuff in the main plugin and get the same effect. For best performance go get Spigot, which has a built-in light version of Orebfuscator.

    to expose 2 layers, you can set InitialRadius to 2, but that will consume more CPU.

    Could you make the stripped down version available again? Many small server could use Orebfuscator to prevent X-rayers but they just can't afford all the speed and RAM. I suggest that you make one that can be chose from mode 1f and 2 and can set the height Orebfuscatoon occurs (Like below sea level) and what blocks will be Orebfuscated. I think the random blocks reappearing can be fixed by exposing blocks behind the first layer that is exposed to the player. I hope you can make the stripped down version with the core only for lightweight servers. Thanks!

    It's a stripped down version with only the core obfuscation algorithm.

    Mode 2 doesn't take more CPU. maybe like 0.1% more than mode 1.

    In spigot what version of orebufoscator is implemented? Light or full? And mode 2 in spigot will take a lot of cpu ?

    Chest being stone is a feature called ProximityHider, which hides chests from xray until players are close enough to see them. You can disable it in the config.

    What's your view-distance? Set it to less than 6. Also, leave compression at 1, having it higher will significantly take CPU.

    Finally, Orebfuscator should not affect TPS at all. If it does, then you're hosting too many players on a very slow machine.

    Alright, today I tried the plugin out. And what I get was lots of glitches and lags... Here is the list of glitches: Blocks of stone will suddenly turn into the blocks I set to be randomized. Chests turn into stone sometimes and only return to normal when hit. When blocks are broken, they will reappear. They take at least 2 times to really break it.

    And here's the biggest problem. After a while having this plugin installed, massive lag started to happen... The TPS dropped from 20 to 18 then 12. Command takes a few second to actually work and players get disconnected by end of stream errors massively... This became such a problem that I uninstalled a plugin... Can someone tell me a fix for the bugs and how to config it so it is the least laggy (Suppose I want every single CPU). At the same time hide all the diamond ores... Spawners... Chests... Mossy cobblestone and mineshafts.
