Broomsticks

Broomsticks allow players to fly around the world. The creation of a flying broomstick is a two step process. Step one involves crafting a broomstick item:

Then a player must cast a flying charm on it. The flying charm can be found in the books "Achievements in Charming" and "Extreme Incantations." The player's experience with this spell determines how fast the broom can go.

To operate a broom, the player must first hold it in their hand. The player is then forced into flying mode, and cannot land until they switch the broom out of their hand. This can cause some "jumping" if the player gets too close to the ground. This default mode allows the player to move as if they were in flying mode. If a player right clicks while holding the broom, they will be rocketed in the direction they are facing. The speed with which they move while in this mode is determined by the spell level of the enchantment. To stop moving in this mode, right click a second time.

As a piece of advice when landing with a broom: wait until you are close enough to the group to start "jumping" with the broom, before you switch away from the broom item. You might die from falling damage otherwise.

If a server operator wants to restrict broom flight from an area, all they have to do is add the flying charm name to the list of disallowed spells for that area. This will prevent brooms from working there.
