NickNames is a simple plugin, that adds support for nicknames into the game. It has permissions, and in the future will have a config for some things, it's current features are the following:

  • /nick - Basic nick command.
  • /nick NICKNAME - Changes your nick to NICKNAME.
  • /nick off - Removes your nick.
  • /nicknames - Displays plugin information.
  • /nicknames disable - Disables plugin :(

  • nicknames.* - All permissions
  • nicknames.nick - Can change any nicks.
  • nicknames.nick.self - Can change own nick.
  • nicknames.nick.other - Can change other's nicks.
  • nicknames.admin - Can disable plugin :(

Make nicknames persist over server restarts and players quitting. - Suggested by Disethas.

    I'll have a gander at the source code if I can, then release it.

    If you could get your hands on the source, However you plan on doing that.. You could change it so for example, When the player has the nickname, which in this case would be when the message: You changed your nickname to: <nickname>

    You can change it so when the message appears, The variable <nickname> is stored in the config file. So it would be: this.getConfig().set(p.getName(), nickname); this.saveConfig();

    p.getName() is the player name...

    nickname is the nickname the player set it as.

    This would also make the nickname permanent because it's stored in a config, not a hashmap, ect.

    i used to have this as my default nicknames plugin for my server. now, it wont work, i keep redownloading it again and again; i put the .jar is my plugins folder and in the console it says it is enabled, although when i do /nick [my nickname] it wont nick me. BUT a message appears on my screen (not the console) that says Nickname successfully changed! but it dosent change my nickname! i dont mean to be annoying, but PLEASE fix this.

    Yo dude, you get this thing rocking with the perma nicks so people can log out and return and whatnot - and I'll plug the shiiii* outta your plugin. If you update this to be permanent please let me know! I can use it for my youtuber server for the youtubers whos accounts do not match their youtube accounts names... please do this. We will be in debt to you - if anyone else see's this and knows of a persistent nick plugin please let me know I will be indebted to you.

    Where are the nicknames stored? Can they be edited with notepad and changed there?

    It's up to you to configure your chat. If you have a chat plugin, you can either use %displayname or %player. I don't remember if those are exactly the right ones but one is the username and the other is the nickname.
