Dev build

Development builds of this project can be acquired at the provided continuous integration server. These builds have not been approved by the BukkitDev staff. Use them at your own risk. This link has been removed because Bukkit doesn't like Github as a CI server.

Minecraft: The Last Airbender is a Minecraft plugin for a Bukkit server. It is designed for Survival Multiplayer, and allows players to choose an element to bend as the benders do in the world of Avatar (the stage of Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel The Legend of Korra).

Some quick notes: I will warn you that you will not be able to do everything they do in the show. There are limitations both in Minecraft and in Bukkit that prevent such extravagance. In the details of each discipline you can see exactly what you can do. As such, the description of the bending disciplines is a little altered to reflect their role in the world of Minecraft: The Last Airbender.

Features

  • Play as a bender and choose which type you would like to be.
  • Battle other users and see who is the best of the best.
  • Compatible with WorldGuard, Factions, PreciousStones, GriefPrevention, and CreeperHeal. (Many more plugins will be added to this list)
  • Nothing is required client-side
  • Permissions support!

Bending

Users may bend water, earth, fire, air, or can go with being a chiblocker.. You may pick which type of bender you would like to be with the command: /bending choose [water/air/earth/fire/chi]. You may only choose one, with the exception of the Avatar, and you may never change it so be careful in your decision.

Waterbending

  • Specializes in maneuverability in and on the water.
  • Oceans are perfect for water benders.
  • Techniques range from shooting water that do damage, freezing lakes, or even pushing enemies back with powerful waves.
  • This bending style is a mixture of offensive and defensive.
  • Water bending opens up many options in bodies of water that are otherwise closed to the other disciplines.

Earthbending

  • Specializes in manipulating the earth around them.
  • Any area which contains land is perfect for earth benders.
  • They have the abilities to pull columns straight up from the earth, drill their way through any mountain and launch themselves through the air.
  • This bending style, like water bending, is a mixture of offensive and defensive.
  • Earth benders do not take fall damage as long as they land on the ground.

Firebending

  • Specializes on destruction and incineration.
  • Any environment, besides on any bodies of water, is perfect for them.
  • They may create rings of fire on the ground, shoot lines of fire, and even create exploding fireballs.
  • This bending style is pure offensive, and very little mobility/defense.
  • Fireball is the only ability they may use that does not require any solid ground beneath them.

Airbending

  • Specializes in mobility & defense.
  • The land is the ideal place for airbenders, although they may also bend over the water.
  • Bending air allows you to use wind to blast things away, forming a shield of air around you, or using a tornado to lift you, or your opponent, off of their feet.
  • This bending style is perfect for pacifists and explorers for they lack any raw damage output, but make up for it with their utility and speed.
  • Choosing air as your element increases your overall speed, decreases the rate of hunger and disables fall damage.

Chi Blocking

  • Specializes in bare handed combat.
  • Move faster, jump higher, take less fall damage.
  • Can block someones chi, stopping them from Bending for a short period of time.
  • Abilities range from Higher Jumps, Faster Punches, and Paralysis of enemies.

HELP! It's not working!

This is a Bukkit plugin, not a single player mod. It will never be a single player mod. Go to the Bukkit Wiki to set up your own server. You can play on it just like you would single player, and it requires nothing more than setting it up.

If anything is not working, look around for a development build of Bending.

Development progress

School has picked back up, so plugin development will be very intermittent at best. I've done away with the ordered releases, and will most likely be keeping 1.0.7 the "official" version until I release it as 1.1.0. It's a jump, I know, but if I were forced to stick to a schedule, the plugin would never get done. This is because there are things I like coding and want to code now, and I shouldn't have to wait just because I have something else planned for the version.

As such, there is no ETA on the release. The dev build will of course be updated as I add features, but 1.1.0 will only be officially released when everything is completed, and that could take a very long time.

    You have everything proper that I see, but I have everything proper too (it's pretty simple code, that line). I don't think the problem is on my end, since how could it be. And I have no ideas on how to fix it on your end.

    @p90nub: Go

    I'd rather, when I can, just fix the flying issues entirely, rather than jerry-rig another flying ability that can be given to people.

    Hey Orion, question: Would it be possible to make a bending ability similar to Avatar State in the sense that any player (regardless of element) can use it if they have the permission, and use that with a similar ability to AirSpout without the height/speed restriction to spoof flying? So that donators/staff can fly at a normal speed without having to be Airbenders

    TL;DR Since making it compatible with flying plugins would be difficult, could you possibly just add your own flying power? Thanks for this awesome plugin, good to see you're still alive!

    With your plugin enabled, this outputs nothing into console. https://gist.github.com/anonymous/ddcb79cd120dab444286 When disabled, it does. Same goes for when I set the priority to LOW or to MONITOR. I have tried giving players /fly and I even did player.setAllowFlight(true) on a PlayerMoveEvent. Nothing is working. :(

  • Avatar of orion304 orion304 Jul 22, 2013 at 22:03 UTC - 0 likes

    @n33dy1: Go

    Well if your event priority is set to highest (or anything higher than normal), and ignoreCancelled = false in your EventHandler annotation, I can't see why it wouldn't work. You're sure the event is being called? Because if ignoreCancelled = false, then it doesn't matter what any plugin does. If you're worried about ignoreCancelled not helping, you can set the priority to lower than normal, so Bukkit calls it first, and send a message saying that the event is working at all (maybe there are different issues you are having).

    @orion304: Go

    I set my priority to highest and I even used an event.setCancelled(false) and I tried with ignoreCancelled set to true and to false. I used a decompiler to try and find a way to allow my own plugin to work with a PlayerToggleFlightEvent and the only thing I could find in yours was https://gist.github.com/anonymous/2839bd6bc21e18ab17d1 but I don't know why it's not wanting to work. Not sure how much time you spend in #bukkitdev but that's where I get a lot of help maybe someone can offer some ideas. Also it's good to see you still commenting. I hope to see more dev builds. :D My players really love your plugin.

    IceSpike has no autocorrection, and does not under any circumstances do more damage than EarthBlast (IceSpike does half a heart).

    @n33dy1: Go

    This is known, and probably won't be able to be fixed. You could probably work it out using a higher/lower priority than mine when it toggles flight.

    @EmkMage: Go

    Everything works. Use /b h bloodbending if you need.

    @Studsonsteed: Go

    No, they don't. They have plenty of power and utility.

    @TroublesomeTrio: Go

    I personally use WorldEdit's restore feature. Look it up if you want to know how. It doesn't happen automatically.

    @Sekoshiba: Go

    There haven't been updates lately because I've been working on other things, but I'll put the commit link back up there

    @KeXoS: Go

    Blue Fire can't happen in a server-side plugin.

    You already can bend the ore blocks, and check the FAQ for Metalbending.

    Bloodbending already exists and you can handle that with a permissions plugin, no need for mine to have a special command for it.

    Multi-bloodbending already exists in the Avatar State.

    @Thenciouse: Go

    Put the error you have into pastebin and link it here, there shouldn't be any issues if you have the dev build though.

    Why does this plugin link to explosions? Because it creates tons of "fake" blocks which would become real if they didn't disappear the moment before an explosion if you have any explosion-healing plugin (CreeperHeal). So they disappear when they're hit by an explosion.

    @Studsonsteed: Go

    They do not need stronger moves, their strength is on par with EarthBending and even with it in the night.

    @Bca1849: Go

    They can block all attacks with an AirSwipe. And Aang didn't block water or earthbending moves with shields of air, he blocked them defensively or by dodges (which happens in the plugin).

    I agree that EarthGrab is too strong in some situations, but I don't think the way to fix it is to make Waterbenders do a move that isn't in the series (jump without water from a pouch). There will be some other way to balance it out.

    That was originally in the plugin, but was taken out due to bugs. I may bring it back at some time, but it's very low priority.

    @KeXoS: Go

    Doesn't matter, can't be done.

    It's impossible to have blue fire unless you have a texture pack @Kexos:

    But the blue fire is pretty awesome?

    @orion304 I think you should add a few things.

    1) I think airbenders should get a directional form of airshield that blocks all attacks because Aang does this, albeit with his staff, but since airbenders are supposed to be the most defensive I think its kind of ironic that they can't block all attacks but earth and water can.

    2) I think waterbenders should be able to jump up 3 blocks on land if they have a bottle and use waterspout so that they aren't the only class that doesn't have a way to get out of earthgrab without breaking blocks. Something kinda like this http://s24.postimg.org/e43oq45v9/Screen_shot_2013_07_21_at_6_48_58_PM.png

    3) I think waterbenders should have watermanupulation be able to pick up a sphere of water and drop it somewhere (not source blocks). Something like this http://s16.postimg.org/eqhtwd4t1/Screen_shot_2013_07_21_at_6_56_03_PM.png

    Water benders need new moves 1.Water Blast- Stronger than water manipulation but has a longer cool down 2.Ice shield- A shield of ice or snow 10 second cool down 3.Water Control-.but in the faction/towns world you can carry water to extinguish fires and such 4. snow throw- this move allows you to raise a snow block and shoot the half snow block off of it...Sortof like when katara raised ice and shot it at het grandfather when she wasn't allowed to train These moves could help water benders a lot
