ItemTag
Important Update: Version 1.4
The latest version fixes all error messages when the user is in creative mode!
What is ItemTag?
ItemTag 1.0 is a great and creative new way to trace back all kinds of problems, dilemmas, and even just returning lost property! Upon a player picking up or dropping an item, or selecting it from a chest or inventory, it will instantly tag the item with there name in the lore, so that no one else can steal and claim what they find and own. It even allows the administrator or owner of the server to manually tag players to a specific item they are holding, overriding any predefined lore the plugin may first find.
Why do I need it?
By using ItemTag you can quickly and easily solve multiple problems and scenarios at once, simply by checking the lore on an item! Just take a look at these examples or see for yourself:
Found an anonymous chest full of duped items?
- By using ItemTag, the items tags would also have been duplicated, and therefore you can see the abuser!
One of your members accusing another player of stealing their items?
- Simply by using ItemTag, you could search the thieves inventory and chests until you find the tagged items desired!
Two players fighting over who found what items?
- With ItemTag installed, all you have to do is see who's items have what tags, and return them!
As you can see, the plugin is simple, quick and efficient in solving all sorts of stealing, raiding and item abuse! Don't miss out on this stress free experience and install ItemTag today!
Known bugs!
Currently we only have a few bugs on here, seeing as it is a small and lightweight plugin:
- Does not override other lore on items (Now solvable! To come soon...).
- Does not add lore to items placed directly in the inventory such through another plugin or other 3rd party software.
- Blocks can still be placed & broken to remove data (Not fixable, permanent bug!)
If you do happen to find anymore please leave a comment below, stating what it is and the error code (use Pastebin for this)!

Assuming this is another plugin, it probably does not accept items with metadata. This is, unfortunately, something I can not fix.
NPC Sell items that are the mark of his own name can not sell. Hope quickly repaired.
Important Update: Version 1.4
Before uploading the ItemTag 1.3 file, I went through the plugin taking out all the debug messages and lines, and whilst doing so, I accidentally deleted a very important line. This then lead to ItemTag not working properly for people in creative mode and printing huge lines of errors to the console. This has, however, no been fixed, and I highly recommend updating to version 1.4 as soon as possible!
@ThisUsernameIsMine
Is this only for shift clicking? I saw this about ten minutes ago when testing another plugin... Not exactly sure why, but my next update will hopefully cover it.
EDIT: Just tested it, yeah it is when you pickup an item...Not sure how these never come up during my testing but then they do when I try a few days later.
Thanks for the update! :)
Noticed something: when clicking on inventory items while having creative gamemode, the console is spammed with a "Could not pass event InventoryCreativeEvent to ItemTag v1.3" NullPointerException.

Version 1.3 now out!
Version 1.3 of ItemTag is now out, containing some. Ajar bug fixes from 1.2 and removing accidentally left in debug messages. It now uses a shift + click listener! with the fully working onClick event, meaning it is now impossible to move, drop or share items without the item being tagged.
It is highly recommended to update as soon as possible!
@Mushroomkngwasmo
Yes, different players can possess different tags (if you don't want this it could try adding it in the future) and the items function as usual. Thanks for the feedback, glad to know it is helping :) May I ask what version you are using though, and if you have encountered any bugs?
Are you still able to share tagged items? Great plugin btw
IMPORTANT
Version 1.2 is reported to have major bugs on the onClick event (that somehow got past my testing :s). It will be updated as soon as possible, but in the meantime stick to v1.1.
If anyone is or is NOT having issues with this version, please reply back here! I need to know whether this is just me and if it is serious. Thank you.
Get the latest version of ItemTag today! Version 1.2 now finally registers the onClick event, however a player moves an item about (except Shift + Click), the item will now be tagged.
Find any bugs or want to leave a suggestion? Comment below, all feedback is appreciated!

Thanks for the feedback, it all helps :) When you say items don't stack, do you mean all items in general, or just that items tagged to a different use or none at all can't be stacked with another persons tag. As far as I am concerned, items with separate metadata (like the lore) cannot be combined. This is just bukkit a way of functioning. If anyone finds this to be incorrect or knows a way to change it, please contact me!
And thanks for getting back to me with the version mistakes, that would just be me lacking the ability to + 1 to a number -,-
The warning isn't a problem, but I will change that up to. Don't want to make the console messy ;) I will have this fixed in the next update.
The plugin is great, but items can't be stacked.
So perhaps make it possible to stack items?
edit: I've downloaded 1.1 but the server and plugin.yml state 1.2? =P
Also getting the following on server startup (1.7.5):
WARN]: Plugin `Item_Tag v1.2' uses the space-character (0x20) in its name `Item Tag' - this is discouraged
Thanks! :) +1
Anybody want to request any features for future updates? Or just tell me how you are finding the plugin? All feedback is appreciated :)
@Shahblox
Once I get the onClick events working, it should be all sorted. That way there would be no possible way to transfer items within or outside one players inventory without getting the item tagged.
Hope to see one day you get it to tag every item in the inventory no matter how it got there like through creative, a command, and/or anything else, lol. :)
A knew version on Item Tag will be coming out soon! It will now be able to detect whether to tag an item on player drops, inventory drags and clicks, not just on player pickups. After that we hope to implemement way to customise the lore message as displayed on the item, as well as the ability to have the users tagged on an item shown on a huge list.
@Shahblox
Glad you like it! Hopefully it will come out of approval soon and I can start working on adding more features.
Very useful plugin! I thank you again for making this!
