This is a typical Hunger Games / Survival Games plugin with a special feature of regenerating arenas using the Hunger Games Map Generator. This means every arena is different from the last, with different treasure in different locations!

If you find a bug while testing this plugin, please post a ticket.

Also, please upvote this ticket so future versions of this plugin can be more stable.

Lastly, since 1.6.2 I haven't been able to test the server because I can't play offline as an un-named player, if you have an account you don't mind me using occasionally, please PM me (you can change your password until I'm done testing).

Special Features

Multi-world support with arena regeneration.
Highly configurable:
- Language files
- Per-Arena configurations
- Customizable terrain generation
- Custom commands can be run during game events.
Optional automatic features such as:
- Auto-open and close arenas as the number of online players changes.
- Auto-start an arena when full.
- Auto-join an arena after logging in.
- Auto-start an arena if no new players are joining after some time.
- Auto-start an arena if enough players vote for it to start.
- Auto-regeneration of arena after game is over.
- Auto-spectate after a player dies.
- Auto-teleport players to the center if a game runs on too long.
- Auto-end a game if a game really goes on too long.
Fun optional extras:
- Compasses will point to nearest tribute.
- Clicking signs to join an arena.
- Clicking signs to see players in arena and teleport to them.
- Advanced sponsoring selection system.
- Statistic logging for wins, losses, kills and games.
- Arena setup for custom maps not regenerated with HGMG.
Low-interference code allows you to play normally when not in an arena.

Not Featured

Terrain roll-back (use the random map generator to get new maps!)
Chest refill (again, random map generator gives you new maps with refilled chests)
Block protection (use a plugin designed for block whitelists/blacklists, I use PermissionsEx)
World management (use a plugin designed for modifying world properties such as mob spawning, I use Modifyworld)
Special support for other plugins (should be compatible with most other plugins anyway though)

This was my favorite Bukkit plugin a couple of years ago. It would be really cool if someone would pick this project's source code up and update it to run on the latest Bukkit/Sponge.

This plugin has issues i when play a test it with my friends i know the sign and every thing but theirs this bug where it said generating map and we been waiting 20 minutes and it still is not done so update it and someone help me PLS!!

Thats plugin issues, just do this: go to ur server lobby, put down 2 sign and type wand left click one sign and right click the other, then type /sg addwall <arenaID> e.g: If I made my 1st ever arena, I would type: /sg addwall 1

To all stating this does not work anymore, check the version of your server. This plugin will only work for the server version it was designed for. See Known Caveats on downloads page for exact version.

I have a question... I made my arena and when somebody does /hg join [arena] it does not teloport them to their pedastool! i have set up the spawn points and everything! pliz help me with this problem it would be very much appreciated!

How do i install the map on my server? I've already created a lobby, but am still unsure of where to place the .jar file so that it will make my server's world that map. I have the MultiWorld plugin, SurvivalGames plugin, Essentials plugin, and Royal Commands plugin. Please help me to fix this and let me know if there are any other plugins I need. Thanks!

Hi, I tried to make an arena, and when I did the /hg arena create and filled everything out, on the consol, it does 10%-93% then says it is done.....

Then I get the people needed to join, and it says, Waiting for arena (Name here) to finish generating...

It has done this now for 5 arenas...... :'(

Edit:
Then when it finally does load, after turning server off then back on... if it a flat world, has no chests, and nothing in it really, besides the villages that randomly spawn in flatworlds........... :(

Hey skaterzero!

Welcome back, and congratulations on passing your exams! And thanks for posting the git repo. I'll download the latest source and try out my various hacks, and report back.

I've got some thoughts on the issues you've listed. In reference to your numbers:

That is disappointing. I haven't really noticed any bugs to speak of, except for the occasion error message about an experience orb being in the wrong region, or something similar. Nothing that has effected the maps or gameplay that I've noticed though.
Simplifying your plugin can only lead to better results. Less is more, and all that. I've been meaning to suggest an option in the config to disable all inventory handling, and let another plugin manage this chore. That was one of the hacks I used with your code on my server. I use Multiverse Inventories, and it works seamlessly with your plugin once I stripped out all the inventory handling code. But for those that choose to use the internal inventory handling, a config setting would give them that option.
Making your plugin into a framework is another suggestion I had considered. Your random world generation is second to none in my opinion; making that portion of your plugin alone for other developers to use would be fantastic. For the record, I also use alkarinv's BattleArena plugin to manage several different types of arenas on my server, and have had good luck with it. I'd love to combine his plugin's match setup and management with your random arena generation.
I imagine you could make improvements if you can find the time. I really like the way you incorporated the ability to customize with schematics. I've never actually gotten around to doing any customizing, but I think keeping the schematic idea would be good. I can see where improvements could be made, ~~for instance having sub directories for the schematics, rather than having them embedded in the generator jars.~~ Edit: Just noticed the changelog indicates this feature has been added in v1.1.

I hope you can find the time to continue development on this plugin. It still stands above the other Hunger Games plugins that I've tested, and more improvements and streamlining would be most welcome. As always, thanks for coding it in the first place, and good luck with your career!

Oh, apparently I moved my source over to Bukkit's git repo, so I think you can clone from git://git.bukkit.org/minecraft/hunger-games-map-generator-serve/mainline.git to get the source code.

Hi everyone, sorry for going AWOL for so long, I just finished taking the qualifying exams which I had been preparing to take for the last six months, I have officially passed and would like to continue development of this mod, there are a few problems that I don't know how to address:

Bukkit does not want to implement my suggestion for closing region files when unloading a world, which means without unreliable NMS calls, I can't regenerate worlds without bugs all the time, which has become quite annoying.
The level of complexity in servers has increased and I'm finding many people are having issues with multi-world management and inventory management and interference with other plugins. This means I need the plugin to do as little as possible on its own to allow other plugins to manage inventories or player locations, etc. However, this makes the plugin more complicated to setup, and it seems it is already difficult enough as it is.
I'd like to do a full revamp of the plugin, using the knowledge I have and knowing what problems need to be fixed or improved, but time-wise I don't think I'd finish. Ideally, I'd go back to the roots of the plugin where it simply provides a modular framework which calls other plugins to do whatever needs to be done during game events.
I'd also like to revisit the generator, since I learned Java while writing it and it could be improved. Part of this would be to make new generators, new map elements and new gameplay elements such as trading with villagers or use of command blocks

Anyway, sorry for the long post, just wanted to update you on where I'm at. I may or may not continue development of this plugin, the main roadblock is that it has become too complex and too much breaks and needs fixing when Bukkit changes and Bukkit is not exactly stable enough to rely on for advanced world swapping to begin with.
