* AS I AM NOW SUPPORTING MORE THAN JUST BUKKIT WITH DYNMAP, MAIN SUPPORT THREAD IS NOW ON http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1543523-dynmap-dynamic-web-based-maps-for-minecraft/- FOR QUICKEST SUPPORT, PLEASE BEGIN USING THIS THREAD *

A Google Maps-like map for your Minecraft server that can be viewed in a browser. Easy to set up when making use of Dynmap's integrated webserver which works out-of-the-box, while also available to be integrated into existing websites running on Apache and the like. Dynmap can render your worlds using different renderers, some suitable for performance, some for high detail.

Components allow you to add/remove functionality to make Dynmap suit your needs. Using the components Dynmap comes supplied with, there is support for chat balloons, web-to-game chat, and configurable markers, areas, and lines.

  • Highly configurable maps per world
  • Real-time updates: maps are kept in sync with your world in real-time, updates are shown while your leave your browser open
  • Players with their faces are visible on the map
  • Chat messages are visible (as balloons or in a chatbox) on the map.
  • Map viewers can chat to players in-game.
  • Current Minecraft time is visible on the map.
  • Current Minecraft weather is visible on the map.
  • WorldGuard, Residence, Towny and Factions regions that can be visible on the map (through corresponding Dynmap-* plugins)
  • Overall highly configurable and customizable.

Copy dynmap-*.jar into your plugins directory. If you are upgrading, delete the previous dynmap-*.jar - you do NOT need to delete the plugins/dynmap directory or its contents.

If you are running a separate webserver (like Apache) you may need to copy the files from 'plugins/dynmap/web/' to a directory in your http-root and follow this guide. When upgrading, make sure you also upgrade the copied files.

First time use

When you start CraftBukkit, you should be able to navigate to http://yourserverip:8123/ in your browser. In case you are running CraftBukkit on the PC you are currently working on, you can navigate to http://localhost:8123/. You should be able to see the players who are in-game. Note that the map is not yet rendered, therefore the background will be black.

If you are planning on using the HD renderer, now would be a good time to do so. Enable 'deftemplatesuffix: hires' in the top of configuration.txt. More information about deftemplatesuffix is available at Base plugin settings.

If you just want to see Dynmap work, use the following command in-game: /dynmap fullrender. The wiki contains more information about commands and permissions. The map should reveal itself gradually in the browser, give it some time. Progress messages indicate that Dynmap is working and will show when the render is completed.

Dynmap Add-Ons:

Both to demonstrate the API, and to help manage the growth of this already-huge plugin, we've started producing additional plugins for Dynmap. All of these will depend on Dynmap and interface through its APIs, but only need to be added by folks that are interested in the additional function they provide:

Mods integrated with Dynmap:

The following mods are known to support dynmap integration without needing an add-on:

Also, for the best response to questions and such, please post comments to our main forum thread - http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1543523-dynmap-dynamic-web-based-maps-for-minecraft/. Once again, having more than one place just isn't helpful, and this is where the 'Dynmap Community' already operates.

This plugin utilizes Hidendra's plugin metrics system, which means that the following information is collected and sent to mcstats.org:

  • A unique identifier
  • The server's version of Java
  • Whether the server is in offline or online mode
  • The plugin's version
  • The server's version
  • The OS version/name and architecture
  • The core count for the CPU
  • The number of players online
  • The Metrics version

I use dynmap 1.5 -forge 6.5.0  (I also try with dynmap 1.5)  on my server. I use forgebukkit. the dynmap work but the map still black when I explore some part of it. The explore area not lightup. All is black on the screen. I saw only the spawn point in the middle. I saw also many server like tekkit lite or feed the beast using now forgebukkit. I think it is the reason for having problems with dynmap.

Can you help me to fix the black screen problem?

Hey there, folks. I'm attempting to make a compatibility patch for the Underground Biomes mod for my custom server pack. Underground biomes orients its ids strangely. It uses quotes around its config ids like this:

    block {
        I:"Anthracite Block ID:"=1579
        I:"Igneous Brick ID:"=1580
        I:"Igneous Cobblestone ID:"=1581
I:"Igneous Stone Brick Slab ID (full):"=1582
I:"Igneous Stone Brick Slab ID (half):"=1583
        I:"Igneous Stone ID:"=220
        I:"Lignite Item ID:"=550
        I:"Metamorphic Brick ID:"=1584
        I:"Metamorphic Cobblestone ID:"=1585
I:"Metamorphic Stone Brick Slab ID (full):"=1586
I:"Metamorphic Stone Brick Slab ID (half):"=1587
        I:"Metamorphic Stone ID:"=221
        I:"Sedimentary Stone ID:"=222

A snippet of my undergroundbiomes-texture.txt file:

    # Igneous Stone
    block:id="Igneous Stone ID:",data=0,allsides=0,topbottom=6000,txtid=txt0
    block:id="Igneous Stone ID:",data=1,allsides=1,topbottom=6001,txtid=txt0
    block:id="Igneous Stone ID:",data=2,allsides=2,topbottom=6002,txtid=txt0
    block:id="Igneous Stone ID:",data=3,allsides=3,topbottom=6003,txtid=txt0
    block:id="Igneous Stone ID:",data=4,allsides=4,topbottom=6004,txtid=txt0
    block:id="Igneous Stone ID:",data=5,allsides=5,topbottom=6005,txtid=txt0
    block:id="Igneous Stone ID:",data=6,allsides=6,topbottom=6006,txtid=txt0
    block:id="Igneous Stone ID:",data=7,allsides=7,topbottom=6007,txtid=txt0

However, when I reload dynmap it throws this error:

Format error - line 11 of plugins/dynmap/renderdata/undergroundbiomes-texture.txt: For input string: ""Igneous Stone ID:""

I've attempted to remove the quotes to receive the same error without the quotes. Is there a method of using spaced strings in the config file?

I love this plugin, it allows my admins to keep an eye on the server and look at all the builds. We have been using it for at least a year with Bukkit, never had any real problems with it.

So why am I posting? Nine months ago I noticed that our world folders were getting to be very big, which wasn't a problem. We had plenty of space, so I just made a border. About six months ago I saw that they were still getting huge. A survival world with a border of maybe 10000x10000 was 16GB. Similar results for our other worlds. This alarmed me and so I did some work to reduce the size. Within the last month the worlds were very large again. The world region folders had hundreds of thousands (some even millions) of blank world files each being 8KB. My friend and I deleted all those files and did a little testing. We determined that when going on ungenerated chunks, about 20 of these 8KB blank files would be made. I updated to the newest version and it still happens. I disabled dynmap and it did not happen anymore. I now have it enabled, but I commented out any of the automatic rendering in the config.

Needless to say I am a little upset that this has been happening for so long. Any ideas on how to fix it? Thank you

    @ziryuk: Go

try to refresh the render. the tiles still exist until something tells them to get deleted.

    /dynmap fullrender {worldname}

Hey I trimmed the map using World Border but Dynmap is showing the land beyond the borders. I tried updating the map but nothing happened. Any suggestion?
