Permissions | Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

DragonTravel gives players the opportunity to ride dragons in Minecraft.
It offers server-admins the possibility to add a new outstanding way of travel to their servers.

More videos on DragonTravel (including tutorials)

  • Allows admins to set destinations for the dragons.
  • Allows players with the specific permission to summon and mount a dragon and...
    ...fly flights which consists out of waypoints(as many as you like)
    ...fly to destinations which have been set by an admin before.
    ...fly to coordinates chosen via command.
    ...fly to players choosen via command(different permission-nodes for other types of travel).
    ...fly to your faction's home-position (Factions required)
    ...fly to a home-position which has been set by this player earlier.
  • Allows admins to set stations and limit the mounting of dragons to these locations (or a specified radius around it).
  • Possibility to require a special item for players to use the plugin (e.g. a dragon-egg)
  • Making signs which automatically mount a player and bring them to the written destination on the sign.
  • Permissions-Support
  • Support of all Economy-Plugins supported by Vault (Vault is required for that)!
    Admins can set different prices for all ways of travel!
  • Admins can choose in the config whether dragons of this plugin should destroy blocks or if any dragons should break blocks when touching.
  • All messages are fully customizable! Default messages.yml is English, but we provide other language-files in our wiki.

Due to the fact that things can change rapidly in this project, I stopped maintaining instructions on the plugin and other information like a list of commands/permissions in the forums, on this page etc. and decided to create a central location where you can always find all information up-to-date: The DragonTravel-Wiki.

Please use this wiki and report all mistakes you find in there and avoid posting questions on topics like commands/permissions/sign-creation etc., which are answered in the wiki, in the comments.

The questions and requests posted in the comments are repeating and there are some questions we answer at least once per week, so we decided to write down some of those Frequently Asked Questions.
Please read the questions below and see if you can find your question there, this really saves us time we can then spend on the development of DragonTravel.

  • Is it possible to change the speed the dragon's wings are flapping?
  • Is it possible to remove the dragon's health-bar?
  • Is it possible to control the dragon manually?
  • Is it possible to move the rider closer to the dragon to avoid him flying above it?
  • DragonTravel does not start, what can be the problem?

You can find the answers to those questions in the FAQ!

Please read the paragraph above before posting any questions!

    @Jordy141: Go

    backwards compatibility is "on it's way" barring a disaster of coding practice. :)

    I have and will continue to be working on a reasonably large patch which I hope will address a lot of the tickets and hopefully the backwards compatibility (in some form at least). However I have some limitations on my testing capabilities so it might take a little while to iron out. But something is being worked on!

    Thanks all! :)

    @Jordy141: Go

    There is a huge button "Fork on GitHub" above. ;)
    Of course you can send me a version working with Cauldron. :)

    I'm having a hard time finding your GitHub, any change i could get a link?

    On an additional note, if i compile a working Cauldron version, do you want me to send the jar/sourcecode to you?

    Just visit GitHub, the source code is available there. :)
    Feel free to update it for your server. :)

    I was thinking, any change i could get acces to the sourcecode for the latest 1.7.10 build and any 1.6.4 build? I have made a few mods before, and i know my way around Eclipse to adjust the registering part of the mod to be Cauldron compatible.

    I have to admit, i've tried this before without your permission, simply decompiling what i could in order to adjust the 1.7.10 build. The problem here was that while i did succesfully change registering the RyeDragon entity, i didn't have the original repositories and couldn't recompile it.

    If i could get acces to the sourcecode in order to properly get all repositories on order, i will be able to reupload a Cauldron compatible version of DragonTravel, even send it to you to add to your downloads if you want.

    Furthermore i will only use this mod for my own server, and if it is to be redistributed at all, it will be through your download links.

    @beefchicken: Go

    I'm really sorry you are not able to use DragonTravel as desired, but I will not support outdated and obsolete implementations or Minecraft versions.
    Since I barely have time to focus on the Sponge version for DragonTravel at the moment, I have even less time to rewrite parts of the code for Cauldron.

    As soon as I got more time (I hope that will be from November on), I will focus on a version for Sponge as a possible successor of Bukkit/Cauldron/Spigot to allow server admins of future versions of Minecraft to enjoy DragonTravel as well.

    Since earning money is not the aim of this project and will not help me with the problem of not having any spare time until November, I can only thank you for your offer, but it will not change my decision.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Kind Regards

    We are currently setting up a HUGE RPG server and would love to talk to the author of this plugin, we are using cauldron for 1.7.10 for our server, and we really need dragon travel to work on it witch it doesn't. is there anyway we can pay you "the aouther" to make a stable version were the plugin will work to cauldron 1.7.10, if payment is what you want then we will pay!

    Best wishes, Riftdimension Server Team

    @LukvonStrom: Go

    This feature was already requested several times (e.g. ticket #176), and it is on the todo list, but will not be implemented too soon.
    The possibility to turn off player travels to you and allow them when you want players to travel to you, which is already implemented, should be enough until then.

    Hey, It would be nice to add a ask System for the ptravel for Example when I`m trying to do /ptravel Mustermann , Mustermann recieves a Message where he could allow or deny travelling to him. Its very similar to the known /tpa from Essentials.
