BetterSpawnZones

No Shiftsniping anymore! Protect your Spawn against shiftsniping with a BetterSpawnZone.

The zones will stop:

from spawn and the edge:

  • hitting players
  • using bows
  • using fishingrods
  • throwing splashpotions
  • throwing snowballs
  • throwing eggs

To spawn:

  • enderpearling

Update: v. 2.0: EVERY event listed above is now configurable!

This plugin is originally created for a faction server of a friend, which will be online soon!

Commands:

   setBetterSpawnZone:
      description: set zone where spawn restrictions function, it will be overridden when you set a existing zone!
      usage: /setBetterSpawnZone <name> <"loc1" or "loc2">
      permission: BetterSpawnZones.*
   delBetterSpawnZone:
      description: delete zone where spawn restrictions function
      usage: /delBetterSpawnZone <name>
      permission: BetterSpawnZones.*
   listBetterSpawnZones:
      description: list zones where spawn restrictions function
      usage: /listBetterSpawnZones
      permission: BetterSpawnZones.*

Instructions to set it up:

This commands are meant to be used by admins when setting up the zone(s), so I made just one permission to keep it simple. The best way to set up the zone(s) is to shift as far as possible on the corner of the spawn and use "/setbetterspawnzone spawn loc1" there, same on the other side ("/setbetterspawnzone spawn loc2"), but way into the air to make the zone cover the whole spawn, the spawn will have to be raised to prevent walking into it like every faction server has, but glass walls around it will be unnecessarily as long as the BetterSpawnZone is set up right.

All messages that will be send when a player tries to use a bow for example are editable, in the config. The zones are saved as well in the config. It's not necessarily to edit the coordinates, if the zone is set up right, but you may edit them if you are not sure if they cover the whole spawn and edges.


For the noobs who can't read long texts ;) :

1. sneak as far as possible on the edge of the corner of the spawn: corner 1

2. set point 1: how to set point 1

3. sneak as far as possible on the opposite corner (higher than the spawn to cover it): corner 2, in the air to cover the spawn

4. set point 2: how to set point 2

5. if your spawn is just 1,5 blocks high (like in the example before): I highly recommend to set "cancelhittingplayersinthezone" in the config to "false" to prevent player from jumping in the region to be safe while jumping!!! (I strongly recommend to have a higher spawn to prevent glitches, exploits, jumping with potioneffects, etc.)

6. You don't need any reloads to take effect! Enjoy the rest of your spawnsnipe-free-life !!! :D
