BanMePlease

BanMePlease

For server admins who manage a Tekkit or FTB server, it isn't news that players can easily gain creative mode and completely grief your server. All it takes is a clever bit of knowledge, or the ability to scroll around on some forums. They are completely asking to be banned!

Have you ever woken up to a spawn or build that was destroyed by a player who gained creative, had a field day, and then left without a trace? Wouldn't it be lovely if only the people you trusted could gain creative?

The Solution

BanMePlease is the solution - being online and constantly monitoring the gamemode of players is no longer needed, for BanMePlease will do it for you. If a player is detected in creative when they shouldn't be, it'll go ahead and ban the player for you, thus allowing you to worry about more important things than cheaters.

By default, all OPs are exempt from being banned by BMP. If you'd like to add others, though, it's as simple as adding a permission node to the user: bmp.gamemode.creative.allow

What Versions of Bukkit Does BMP Work On?

BanMePlease works on 1.2.5 through 1.5.2, and should be functional on 1.6.2. The plugin gets the most use on Tekkit/TechnicPack and Feed The Beast servers, and thus can be relied on to work on any of the packs.

Instructions

Installation is as simple as downloading the BanMePlease.jar file, and then dropping it into your plugins folder. Restart your server, and bam - you're all set to go!

Want somebody who isn't an OP to be able to use creative? Add the permission node bmp.gamemode.creative.allow to their permissions, and the plugin will handle the rest!

SideNotes

This plugin was created to solve a very real problem on servers that I manage. After seeing multiple players (15+) gain creative through exploits, I had enough - it was then that I developed a plugin to automate the checking/banning process. In all, about 25 players on our servers have been banned via the plugin!

Config File

Per this initial release of BanMePlease, no config file is read or used. This will change in version 0.2.0, which should be released within the next week.
