Installation and Configuration

Required Plugins

Recommended Plugins

  • Greenhouses - a sister-plugin to AcidIsland that enables players to make biome greenhouses (glasshouses).
  • Essentials Spawn so you can set the spawn position
  • MultiverseCore - so you can manage multiple worlds
  • QuickShop or some kind of chest shop plugin to enable players to trade - which is a major point of this game
  • MultiInv to manage inventories and keep them separate between worlds
  • PermissionsEx to manage groups and permissions
  • MultiWorldMoney to keep money separate among worlds

Installation and Configuration

For upgrading, see below.

  1. Download the plugin (AcidIsland.jar) and other mandatory plugins.
  2. Place into your plugins folder
  3. Restart your server
  4. The plugin will make a folder called AcidIsland.
  5. Stop the server.
  6. Open the plugin/AcidIsland folder.
  7. Edit config.yml
  8. Read the top comments
  9. Go to the line quite that says "island:" and then below it "distance:"
  10. Change it from -1 to 200, or whatever you want the islands to be apart
  11. Change any other settings in config.yml you like, for example set up your Island Guard settings.
  12. Check challenges.yml and change if you like.
  13. The default language is English (US). If you would like to use another language, see the main page for alternative locale.yml's.
  14. Restart the server.
  15. Permissions should be set by default, unless you use a permissions manager. In which case, set up permissions. See the Permissions Page.
  16. Log in and type /island to start your island

(The next steps are optional)

  1. Set up your spawn if you'd like to use AcidIsland spawn - Go to a location away from the islands and use /acid setspawn. Spawn protection settings are in the config.yml.
  2. Install Greenhouses - a sister-plugin to AcidIsland that enables players to make biome greenhouses (glasshouses).
  3. Enter creative mode and build a nether portal on an island
  4. Go through it to the Nether
  5. In AcidIsland's nether, every player arrives at the same portal, so check that it is reasonably sane. Players will not be able to change around it so you may want to edit blocks, build bridges, etc. Alternatively, you can try the Beta Island Nether - set newnether in the config to true.
  6. Set the Nether spawn protection radius in config.yml if required - Players cannot build or break blocks, dump lava, etc. in this area (default is probably okay)

Admin Tips

Some recommendations to improve game play:

  • Install a trading or shop plugin because going from one island to another is part of the fun!
  • Consider allowing creeper explosions and Enderman griefing. Some of the best servers have this on and are hard but fun.
  • Note: AcidIsland has island protection options, including explosion prevention.
  • Make sure your viewing distance is sufficiently far so that players can see other islands when they boat around, (set in server.properties)
  • Make a spawn for AcidIsland. (Convert an island to a spawn point using /acid setspawn

To Upgrade

  1. Back up all AcidIsland files just in case!
  2. Stop the server
  3. Delete or rename all the yml files to benefit from the updates
  4. Overwrite the AcidIsland.jar file with the new one
  5. Start the server
  6. Check the new config.yml, challenges.yml, locale.yml, minishop.yml files and change how you like.
  7. *NOTE make sure your sea and island levels in config.yml are EXACTLY the same as what you have in your world!!!*
  8. Install an island.schematic if you want to use custom islands.
  9. Reload plugins or /acid reload.

Nether check (AcidIsland_nether world)

AcidIsland creates a Nether just for AcidIsland. It is randomly created and every portal from AcidIsland goes to the same spawn point in the AcidIsland Nether. So, it may be a bit crazy there if the spawn area isn't so safe.

  1. Enter creative mode and build a nether portal on an island
  2. Go through it to the Nether
  3. Check that it is reasonably sane. Players will not be able to change around it so you may want to edit blocks, build bridges, etc.
  4. Set the Nether spawn protection radius in config.yml if required - Players cannot build or break blocks, dump lava, etc. in this area (default is probably okay)
